Sounds good.

I'll second what Helen said, though. Vegas is in the desert, so it will be pretty hot. That's why we must sleep all day and party all night. wink

Hmmmmm, well it sounds interesting, but I'll only pencil it in for now since I have some other things that I'll be doing that summer, so I don't know how it would fit.

Um, if you really get a large enough group (a few hundred), it would be worthwhile to take a collection for a function room for everyone to gather in for social events. Then it gets complicated. If it's in the dozens, then maybe a suite would do.

I really doubt more than a few dozen people will be going. It really wouldn't be worth it to get event space of any kind. Maybe if enough people are sure they're going they can get a nice suite for several people to stay in. Middle of the summer is better for me, but I'm not making any promises until I nail down my summer job prospects next spring. I do know that the Barbary Coast (whatever it's called now) is comparatively cheap and in a really nice central location and close to a monorail stop, so it sounds like a good choice. I hope I can go!

I would love to meet up with everyone again, my only concern about all the Vegas stuff is my age. I'm definitely not going to be 21 by next year.

There's a lot to do in Vegas even if you're not 21. We went as a family two years ago when Dani wasn't yet, and while she obviously couldn't do everything, there was still stuff that she could do. I'm sure that there will be some gambling/drinking, but I doubt that'd be all we'll do, so I wouldn't not go just because of your age.

Last time I was in Vegas I was under 21 and there was still plenty of things for minors. Though I hear that Vegas is getting away from the family orientation and starting to revert back to her old ways.

At any rate I'm in for the moment. I should have plenty of cash and vacation isn't a problem or so I'm told.

This sounds like such a great time! happy

After such a wonderful time at CIV, I'm ready to get together with my fellow fans ASAP!

First need to get active in my local FF (Austin FF) (I hope to join up and start volunteering at events, etc.), and second, start saving for this Vegas thing --I hope it all comes together, I love Vegas! Will be glad to share my "change jar" with those who need a bit of cash to spend! happy

Martha

I think I can handle the last ride, but the other two, no way. I'm way too scared of heights to be dangling off the side of a building.

As a local I can say that Bills Gambling Hall (the former Barbary Coast) is one of the best kept secrets round here. It is smack in the middle of the strip and the prices are not out of line. I can also vouch for the temperature being hot as Tatooine, we havent hit 110 yet but tis just around the corner. The rides at the stratosphere are priced each per ride also you need to pay to get up to the observation deck as well, just to watch the insane ride the rides. Actually a few months ago one of them froze up and left peopel stranded out ehre for a few hours. Ther used to be a roller coaster that went around the top of the sphere but it has been decommissioned.

From the website, it looks like you get a discount if you buy a package for admission and three rides, but it's still not cheap. I'll probably go anyway, though, just because it seems like such a unique experience and I love crazy-ass rides and roller coasters and stuff. Too bad the roller coaster isn't there anymore. I remember reading about that one a while ago and thinking it would be cool to go on.
