Here is the official article stating that CIV had the largest fan turnout of all the Celebrations. Over 35,000 fans attended.

Way to go, guys! Now let's break that record again when C5 rolls around!

Wow, I had the impression that more people attended C3. It's good to know that even without any upcoming movie hype, CIV was a success.

A lot of people had the same impression, but the LACC is deceptive compared to the Indy Center. The same amount of people would LOOK like much less in the LACC.
I would think this just about cements LA getting C5 even though I'd like to see other locations. The only question in my mind is when. 2 years or 3? I hope 2 years. But we will see.

You're right Doc, at CIII we were crawling all over one another because the center was so small - I know there were more people at C4 - but it was nice to have the breathing room! I'd also agree that C5 (hint hint) will also be at LACC - especially with all the hotels that they were building at the time that we were there - that'll make it much easier. I must admit though, I'm hoping for at least 3 years before the next one, I'm thinking this:
C1, 1999 - Episode I
C2, 2002 - Episode II
C3, 2005 - Episode III
C4, 2007 - 30th: Episode IV
C5, 2010 - 30th: Episode V (?)
C6, 2013 - 30th: Episode VI (?)
Makes sense to me... we'll see.

I wish I could say that they are building "a lot" of hotels -- but that is not in the plans. What has been started are two hotels totally 1,001 rooms (for Ritz-Carlton and Marriott), which will be completed sometime in 2010. Phase 2 of the LA Live project does include restaurants, and is slated to be finished in 2009.
But I don't think the timetable will keep the next Celebration from being in L.A. The room to move around is a big selling point.

I am rather skeptical of this. Do ya'll really think they'd announce that the attendance was smaller than any of the other Celebrations? It isn't good business to make it appear that the numbers waned for C4 compared to C3. It would discourage vendors and any possible future sites for Celebrations if it were to be announced that interest isn't higher than previous attendances.
There are no concrete numbers mentioned. This gives no real idea of how many were just one day attenders who came from nearby or how many were multiple day attenders who traveled to LA and actually added to its revenues.

I don't recall any actual "concrete" attendance numbers being released for any of the previous SW Celebrations. All I've ever seen were reports like "More than XXX fans attendended Celebration X".
Why would that change for CIV?

I thought I read the Ritz-Carlton portion of the project was going to be luxury apartments for sale. Are there actually going to be 1001 hotel rooms or does that include the privately owned portion?
EDIT - I've answered my own question. Just got to love google!
W Marriott and upscale Ritz-Carlton will operate separate hotels in the building on Olympic Boulevard. Combined, there will be 1,001 guest rooms when the hotels open in 2010. The Marriott will also operate one of the largest ballrooms in Los Angeles, with a seating capacity of 3,000. The top 26 floors will house 224 luxury condos attended to by the Ritz-Carlton staff.

Whoa! Can you imagine the awesome after-con 501st/RL/JSA/FF/etc. party that could be held in this room? Wow!
