I was under the impression that they could not find an organization with enough experience and background to put a celebration on other than Gencon. I could be wrong on that one.
Joe, The feeling around the SW community is , Lucusfilm is "testing" a company right now. The name escapes me right now but the Texas company that is running Celebration Japan in July will almost certainly run CV is things go well for them in Japan.

Hey guys - I just posted my NYCC Lucasfilm Panel notes over in the Social Thread (figured it would be more appropriate there instead).
Thanks.

Nothing really new that I did not already know! Kind of a shame they are waiting that long to announce a CV for 2009. If they are really going to officially announce it in September or October of this year, it really needs to be CV in 2010 then. That is not enough time for me. That is my opinion.

Yes...I would agree...LFL timelines are off this time around. But, we will have wait to hear from the Big Guy himself...lol.
Perhaps a summer Celebration is at hand. Would make the weather more enjoyable...But, Pity the poor 501st....Whew, they will be hot!!!
Hopefully some of my connections will pull something out of the air. I will be waiting for an email intently!!!!

They are going to have us scrambling for rooms and transportation by announcing it in the fall. Then again, it gives us till then to save money before we have to dish it out, would be nice if they told us which city it would be in though.
echo-3 is probably right, they are most likely waiting to see how Celebration Japan is going with the new company and how well it was accepted, and if it works out, they'll use it to do CV.
A summer celebration would be good for people who have kids in school, they might do it at the same time Celebration Japan is this year, in which case i wont go, since i will be getting married.
Oh well, we'll see

Having it over the summer would be an excellent idea. It's certainly conducive to introducing Star Wars to a whole new generation. My son got into it for awhile but lately he hasn't shown much interest. He said he'd like to go to a convention with me if he could dress up so I'm looking forward to it. I know.. it would mean I actually have to go this time. LOL!

I agree April is bad period. May has kids still in school. June would be a good month to have it.

LOL. I don't know. I thought about dressing up once before. If my son does, I might be more interested in doing it. Not sure what though. I certainly wouldn't want to spend a lot of money. And yes, I almost certainly would go this time around, especially if my son comes with me.

I always thought it was a cool idea to dress with for the star wars celerbations. But you take any risk that comes with it because you really don't know what the weather will be like whether it be 90 degrees or 30 degrees with snow. I play it safe and dress casual.

I've always wanted to purchase a nice SW costume to wear to the conventions.
But I wear glasses, and its tough wearing any kind of mask or make-up with them on. They fog up and it becomes very annoying.
Oh well...

I'm sure you could come up with something funny... make a joke out of it or something. I wear glasses too although not all the time. Get an Imperial Commander uniform and hat and tape the middle of your glasses with some masking tape. Nothing geeky about having to wear glasses but you could play around with it.

If they do have any future star wars celebrations they should get permission to show Robot Chicken Star Wars episode again and the Family Guy star wars episode. I heard from a seth green interview that they are working on a family guy episode spoofing The Empire Stikes Back and eventually a Return of the Jedi. I would like to see panels on spoofs like that especially Spaceballs. I love that movie! Especially the Mr. Coffee bit!

Hey guys long time no speak. I have been gone from the boards since C4. C5 being a chance closer to the heartlands makes it easy on me going. 1 day drive is not bad. What is the size of the convention center in Chi town?
