I just don't think there will be a star wars celebration in 2009 now that Mr. Sansweet said there will be no officially word until after Celebration Japan is over at the end of July. Just too late for star wars fans especially with the recession and the credit crunch going on. Not to mention the price of a barrel of oil is near $120 with regular gas averaging $3.60 a gallon. Going to be a pain trying to drive to any star wars convention. If they have it in 2010, Good Lord, the price might be $6.00 a gallon or more! Let's hope not or I won't be going any where!

My top 3 images would be:
1. AT-ATs tromping through the snow plains of Hoth
2. The Millenium Falcon flying through the asteroid field
3. Han and Leia kissing in the red glow of the carbonite freezing chamber

My top 3 images would be:
1. Luke and Vader duel
2. At-ATs and the battle on hoth
3. Yoda and his definition of the force:
"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hm?
And well you should not. For my ally in the Force. And a
powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. It's energy
surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we,not this crude matter.
You must feel the Force around you. Here, between you...me...the
tree...the rock...everywhere! Yes, even between this land and that
ship!"

Justin is correct. I looked over my back logs and the announcement was made in May. Thanks Justin, great job!!!
Love the answers coming in...Looks like AT-AT's and Yoda are still on top.

Three favorite scenes are:
1. The Star Destroyer shooting the Probe Droid and it landing on Hoth.
2. Wampa attacking Luke while he cuts homsilf lose from the ice cave.
3. The whole Dagobah scenes with Yoda.

Here is gas to throw on the fire.
I have a good friend that is in the 501rst and has it on good authority from a good source , that CV is in NY.
I will hate this if its true I would much rather it be in Chicago but to his credit, he told our FF almost a full month before the official announcement, about CIV being in LA.

Well, the first hit I got for NY Convention centers is the Javits center - not too shabby but what a pain it will be to hit NYC....

I live in NY, and I cannot think of a worse selection for C5 than the Javits Center.
There are NO hotels nearby and traffic in that area is a NIGHTMARE at all times of the day/night.
Plus, it is not that big of a CC when compared to the other CC's that have been mentioned as possible C5 destinations.
People thought the LACC was bad for CIV? That will seem like a DREAM compared to C5 held at the Javits Center.

NY??? i hope not. While his source may be true, due to the fact it was last time, NY isnt exactly Mid-US like Sansweet said they were looking at.

Exactly, Padme and Justin. Javits is a terrible place for a convention site. OK for certain trade shows, but not for something like this.
I must say, we've gotten it "on good authority" that it was to be held in a half dozen places LOL. I'd say this was just another rumor.
