Well, you'll make this one. CIV was fun. At CIII I just walked around aimlessly. Jumped into a few Q&As and took a million pics. CIV, I set out to do what I wanted. Bought my toys, got my exclusives, took a bunch of pics and just had a blast. I really enjoyed it because I didn't waste time on things I knew would annoy me.

I think the LA convention center was WAY TOO BIG for CIV. A smaller convention center should be able to hold CV. As long as the store is still as convienient as it was at CIV, things should be fine.

Then again they could go with St. Louis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Cleveland or any midwest city! LOL! Who knows! I will wait until an official answer on starwars.com.

I think having C5 in 2009 is a mistake.

I mean, the 30th Anniversary of "The Empire Strikes Back" is in 2010. Just a year later. Sure, there'll probably be lots of Celebrations in other countries that year but none in the U.S.. Just my opinion but I think that sucks.

Since I'm still paying off my debts from C3 & C4, doubtful I'll make C5. If there's a Celebration in the U.S. in 2013 (a C6 or even C7 by then), I hope to make that. It would be the 30th Anniversary of "Return of the Jedi"!

May the Force be with us.

Well, 2009 would be the 10th anniversary of TPM and C1.

But I hear where you're coming from.

If there really would be a celebration in 2009, don't you think that the rumours would be a bit more solid than just "yeah, we are hoping to have a celebration"?. Since they would have to find a new organiser as well, instead of GenCon, it seems to me to be a bit late. I personally also think it would be better in 2010.

At Jedi-Con last weekend Steve Sansweet said that they were hoping to have a celebration every year somewhere in the world, why not Australia for 2009?

Why not, indeed? But then, why not one International and one U.S.? Steve told us at C-IV that a Celebration Australia (or anywhere, for that matter) is entirely feasible as long as someone in the particular country wants to run it. Which means they come up with the up-front money. Maybe he's changed his opinion, but that was his take on it last year.

Try this. The company that is going to run Celebration Japan is out of Texas. I think this is a test run to see how they do and if successful, Lucas lets them tackle CV.
I personally want them to have a Celebration every other year in the U.S, I'm already having CIV withdraws.

Echo is back...Nice to see you back on this board...lol

I agree completely, the sudden urge to stand in long lines for Star Wars something, is weigh heavily on my shoulders. I always feel, each year, that I need some sorta Star Wars fix...lol.

I imagine in a couple months we will hear a more solid answer. But, my ear is to the floor, listening for the sudden stamper of AT-AT's moving into a different city.

Celebration V....I love the sound of it...lets make it real....NOW!!!

I loved both the Celebrations I went to (C3 & C4). Granted, C3 had certain things against it like the biting cold, rain AND many of us fans stood in line in all that but, still, I had a grand ole time. [And it was my FIRST Celebration!] To me, the positives easily outweighed the few negatives (in my humble opinion, at least).

I made some great friends at C3 - fellow Star Wars fans, of course - who I still keep in touch with to this very day. Same for C4 (even though it wasn't that long ago).

I, too, look forward to the Celebrations & experience withdrawals. Perhaps, however, I speak for the poor people set. The round trip flight, hotel stay (even shared) & other expenses really add up. [I made a costume for C3, then another for C4. Even if I DIDN'T make a new costume for each Celebration, it'd STILL be a pricey event.]

Three (3) years in between Celebrations is a welcome time-period for me since it gives me time to recuperate financially & prep once again for the big event.

Just my two credits.

May the Force be with us.

Sounds good, Jay happy .

I think they just want to stick to the "every two years" format. When you think about it, three years in between anything is a long time happy .

My take, and this is definitely a personal one, is that we are losing beloved SW actors all the time (man, how I miss Michael Sheard. What a true English gentleman). The longer between conventions, the higher the risk that someone I'd really like to see will be gone. I know that something like that can happen in a day at any time, but still...

But it was three years between teh movies - we lived!

I hope they make some serious rumblings soon as I'd need to find ways to cover my shift (yeah, we have to bid for our vacation time or find people to cover and my few floating hols are precious.)

I'd also have to decide on whether I wanted to get positive space on a flight or what (most likely).

Well, at least now that Steve has mentioned what's in the works, hopefully we'll have some firm answers soon.
