	The reason it was locked is because we have people trying to create threads all the time about their opinions on why the PT did and didn't work for them, on what levels etc. Which ones do we allow? Instead of trying to decide this myself, we have one thread where everyone can post their opinions on the PT. Maybe if it was approached a different way, like asking the general question whether or not the PT works for you on a general level, or only on a SW level, I wouldn't have locked it. But as it is, "opinion" threads, those which are seemingly about one person's opinion, tend to quickly turn to arguments. We generally lock and redirect all threads like "AOTC didn't work for me because...." as there are other threads it could go into. So do we allow all opinion threads, and at what point do we lock because of redundancy at the risk of looking biased at one opinion over another? That's why I'm more in favor of using the one opinion thread for all, unless it's asking of the posters a more specific question, instead of a general observation that could go in another thread. If he wants to rephrase that thread to be more of a specific question for everyone, I'd let it go. -----signature----- Your smile is worth a thousand pennies.

	2) An adult forum (not for pornographic or violent material, per se, but just a forum where the swear censor doesn't exist, and edgier images -- like Get_in_Gear's Penn and Teller animation -- can be posted). I take it this is in response to the basher's preferial to a non-PG forum? Well, that was never given as a reason for their exodus, plus, PW would never approve it. "The Star Wars Saga" being a fusion of the "Classic Trilogy" and "Prequel Trilogy" forums, all of these threads make perfect sense. Seen through the context of "The Star Wars Saga" forum being about themes and ideas woven into the saga, however, these feel out of place and interrupt the flow. We have a thread in their now called "Lucas's Folly?" which deals with criticism of Lucas (as an artist). It's not all philosphy threads, and it seems to work well together. I don't really like the idea of this split because (a) I think Saga works well with both types of threads and (b) it doesn't really get the volume of traffic to warrant a split. So maybe, just maybe -- and this is merely an idea -- the forum could be split in two? That way, people could argue to their heart's content about the artistic worth of each film in one forum, and discuss philosophical issues to their heart's content in the other. Saga isn't as rigid as it used to be. Used to, if it wasn't a college level essay, it was locked (sarcasm, of course, but they did have very high standards). These days we just encourage serious discussion, i.e., no fluff or misc. threads, but as long as it is about the Saga and can be discussed, it's game. This allows from criticism thread, philosphy threads and just general threads on a topic. However, the JCC has an no SW rule meaning that any SW related humour can't exist. Perhaps SWC would be the forum for offtopic SW related humour ? Would that work? I think so. Furthermore, I think the separation you are suggesting (ie artistic vs philosophical) won't actually seperate the bashers and gushers.* Right, trust me on that. How are we supposed to mod against bashing without having to explain every single time why it's not "biased"? Twilek, I'm a bit confused by your wording. Mod against bashing? 	Thanks for listening to my ideas and ripping them apart, guys. No, seriously, thanks. It's good to get these ideas into the open and see what the pros and cons are. Yes: there are a lot of cons. Too many. As I feared. I actually tried adding this to my original response, but for some reason, even though I made several attempts, the software wasn't having any of it; in fact, when I refreshed one time, it told me I could only make "one post per minute", even though the edited version didn't go through! But to sum up: I realised that many existing threads overlap between the two hypothetical forums I proposed, and many more would surely overlap after those hypotheticals were created. So yeah, my proposal was rather unworkable, on multiple levels.] I think all the bashers have left, Stryphe. The perception, on their behalf, is one of inflexibility. It isn't completely unfounded. But you know my other belief, too: they're blinded by a sense of entitlement. I think everyone is more or less where they want to be, now. The people who are happy with TFN are at TFN; the people that aren't happy here are now happy elsewhere. Wasn't there a proposal in the other thread by, er... G-FETT (?) about getting "constructive criticism" threads going? It might be worth a try. I can't think of what else would work within the confines of the way TFN is designed to work and is actually run. o matter. Plenty of people are happy here. -----signature----- I have a great admiration for George. These films are very well-intentioned. All right, they make tremendous amounts of money and appeal to kids, but they say good things, and they say them in a broad way. I believe in the Star Wars films. - Ian McDiarmid

	Well, I follow the discussion, but don't have much to add. I have more than enough to deal with IRL right now, so I have little time (or motivation for that matter) to participate. I think we can conclude that everything remains as it was, except that the BS has been relocated and a few ppl left the site probably forever. Experimenting with those new thread ideas would be a good idea though.

	I'm still here, and I've read everything posted in the Focus Group. A problem is that the conversation has been fractured into three different threads. Perhaps all the threads could be locked and a new one, with perhaps a life of 7 days, could be started, a "Final Thoughts for the Future of Bashing on TF.N Boards" thread. There are a number of good ideas lost in the other threads.

	I was talking with Loco_for_Lucas in PMs about this situation. Those of you who know him know that he is a die hard basher, one of the more well known ones, in fact. His honest opinion about posting outside of the sanctuary as a basher was that there weren't any problems in doing so, at all. I was actually surprised at this comment, coming from such a legendary basher. I guess it really does boil down to perspections and thick vs. thin skins.
