And the hot chick is really the sister of the good guy, but they don't know it, and they kiss.
Which is kind of messed up.
I mean, what if they had done it instead of just kissed?

Real name: Been using it all along. Patrick Russell, at yer cervix!

Age: 38

Favorite movies outside of Star Wars: Where the heck do I start? Big Lebowski, the Blues Brothers, Lord of the Rings, Play It Again Sam, The Saragossa Manuscript, The Duellists, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Kelly's Heroes, Swingers, A Hard Day's Night, the BBC Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett, Strange Brew, The Party, Sleuth, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Koyaanisqatsi, Shadow of the Vampire, Arsenic and Old Lace...

Also, most of the Kurosawa films I've seen (particularly Rashamon, Hidden Fortress and Seven Samurai), most everything the Marx Brothers ever did, same with Laurel and Hardy (at least up to the point where they started doing big musical productions rather than the shorts they were so good at), and I think that Preston Sturges may be one of the most underappreciated Hollywood filmmakers of all time.

Music you like: The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Neil Young, The Who, Gabor Szabo, Jimi Hendrix, Tony Rice, Johnny Cash, Billy Joel, Jim Croce, John Denver, Django Reinhardt, Miles Davis, CSN&(sometimes)Y, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Frank Zappa... that's just off the top of my head, of course.

Books you like: I just started "Love and Other Near Death Experiences" by Mil Millington, and I'm enjoying it so far. Clive Cussler's "Shadow Divers" was excellent as well, as was Harpo Marx's autobiography "Harpo Speaks." Other authors I dig, in no particular order: Christopher Moore, Philip K. Dick, Jean Shepherd, Tom Robbins, Carlos Castaneda, Marion Zimmer-Bradley, and Dave Barry. I also am a huge fan of the poetry of Jelalludin Rumi.

Hobbies and interests: Well, let's see... I'll just rattle off a few things here, since I tend to be a "jack of all trades, master of few" sorta guy.

I've been teaching myself guitar for the past five years or so, and can fake my way through quite a number of tunes by now. I primarily play acoustic guitar, and can't make a decent barre chord to save my ass (though I can fake my way through a lot of those as well.)

One thing I do know a lot about is Zeppelin history (the airships, of course, not the band... though I dig them just fine) and am currently working on a reference book about the Hindenburg. It's all a labor of love at this point, and will remain so until a publisher enters the picture, but that's fine by me. There's nothing worse than turning something you love into a daily grind.

I also write a bit, though not professionally. I usually have an article up on http://www.keepgoing.org although for the upcoming summer issue I came up dry as far as article ideas went. But beyond that and maybe one other time, I've had an article on there every issue for about the past four years or so.

Oh yeah, and I'm also a huge fan of the Firesign Theatre. They're a group of four guys who used to do albums in the '70s (and have done a few again over the past decade as well) and... well, their thing has been described many ways and yet it's still tough to peg them as one thing or another. They're a comedy group, but what they do is this great, literate, bad-pun-imbued, stream-of-consciousness material that often resembles old-time radio plays. I've called them "American Monty Python on Acid" before, and I've heard Robin Williams describe them as the audio equivalent of a Heironymous Bosh painting (which works too.) Check them out if you've never heard of them.

At the moment I'm a freelance index editor (yes, I write book indexes) working out of my home. And if I'm gonna be taking a long walk on a friggin' beach, then I'd best have had myself a fairly potent hash brownie first or the whole thing's gonna be a complete non-starter. wink

I'd be willing to bet nearly all the Bs and Gs would get along outside of a SW environment. We're not awful people afterall.

Well, speak for yourself: I’m a perfectly wretched individual, thank you. tongue

Music you like: I’m not much of a music aficionado, though I do enjoy Bruce Springsteen; the Beatles; Led Zeppelin; Pink Floyd; various classical works; film soundtracks; and so on.

Books you like: lots of film theory and criticism, including David Bordwell; Pauline Kael; Manny Farber; Paul Schrader; André Bazin; James Agee; David Thompson (although he can come off sounding a bit self-appointedly supreme at times); Andrew Sarris; Francois Truffaut; Vachel Lindsay; Jean Cocteau; Andrei Tarkovsky; Donald Ritchie; Peter Bogdanovich; David Mamet; etc.

- Other authors I enjoy include: (in no particular order) James Joyce; Gabriel Garcia Marquez; Patrick O’Brien; Jon Krakauer; Albert Camus; Nikos Kazantzakis; Fyodor Dostoevsky; Walker Percy (well, just one book in particular whistling ); Raymond Carver; Graham Greene; Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn; Samuel Beckett; O Henry; John Steinbeck; etc.

Hobbies and Interests: I enjoy reading (books, magazines, newspapers, technical journals, etc.); going to movies; structured work-out/exercise, alternating regularly between cardiovascular and weight-lifting routines; video games (both console-based and PC); writing; cycling; world history; drawing; etc.

Maybe what you do for a living: Nothing at the moment; I happen to be a student.

If you like long walks on the beach: It depends on the beach, and the person(s) – if any – with whom I am to share said excursion.

BTW, good call on "The Sargossa Manuscript," Patrick. That’s a wonderful, sloppy, masterpiece that deserves to be seen by more people.

Indeed it is and does! I love the way the story-within-a-story thing goes, like, four or five deep at certain points. And it's a very visually funny film as well as being visually striking. I'm really glad it was preserved and released on DVD.

Mine does too. I've been on one of those kicks here lately. I just make sure I turn the volume down when the Flock of Seagulls start playing so as not to embarrass myself at the gym.
