Ok, I know this is the 2nd thread I've started in here, but I think it's a pretty important topic considering the amount of EUDF members and posters otherwise who are curious as to how the discussions go.
Will there be general updates posted, with an outline of what is discussed, or will the public see the whole discussion, nothing withheld (unless it needs to be for specific reasons.
So, anything certain on this issue?

I believe a thread will be created in Comms to detail the progress of this group. There also stands a good chance that the vast majority of the posts will be copied and pasted into the Comms update thread.

The only probem with copy/paste is the formatting. The easiest solution (IMO) would be to upload the thread to a server (brinkster is good for that kind of stuff) and let the users view the site. If anything needs to be removed, it can be done through the HTML.
That's just my opinion though.

Good point. We'll probably eventually run out of emoticons, but right now that should be the least of our worries. Whatever works best for you and EV. 
Also, to quote a post by Kimball in Comms:
One option that has come up as a compromise (and that is technologically feasible) is to make them read only after the group has finished, and move them to the Inactive Forums section of the board.
While a user would not be able to read the discussion as it developed, the entire record would be available for anyone to read.
I think a combo of the two ideas would be good. Have general updates, but then make the forums read only when we're done. That way, the users will know what's going on, and then making the forums read only will make them availible to go back to for reference if it is ever needed, sorta like the inactive lit forums.

Whatever you think is best. Though, I must admit, I doubt the averege user will read all of the information.
Perhaps highlights? Not quite the full text, and not quite a summary.

yeah, there's no way somebody would read it all if evverything was posted. I think a summary or highlights would be best. maybe short summaries of each post?

Summarising the discussion would be more beneficial.
I'd think a poster just wants the jist of where our conversation is going, not a big document.

Personally, I'd rather the whole thing be posted.
I doubt the averege user will read all of the information.
Those who would be most interested would read it, though.
Perhaps a one paragraph summary followed the complete text? That way, if someone just wants a quick summary, they can get it, and if they want all the details, they can get those too.
