- What YodaKenobi said. In her own words, it was a "choice."
- It was wrong. Even if it was an honest mistake, she knew within a couple hours that it was a quote from a PM, yet it remained posted until a day ago. So are you saying it was okay to leave it because it was an honest mistake?
- What I said was, It is what it is... A PM was quoted - honest mistake or not - it happened. Mistake or not, it should have been fixed because it became wrong the moment she knew it was a PM quote. Her "choice" to leave it up more or less justifies the impression many had.
- And it's very hard to misconstrue something when the way the quote was presented misconstrued what I actually said.

As I mentioned in another thread, once I left yesterday everything came back to me. I apologize for seeming to forget major details. Everything is all cool now. I'm up to speed and beyond. Everything's all fine now here....we're all fine now...um, how are you?
There was one comment yesterday made that really stuck with me all night and finally woke me up. It was basically, 'If a forum like Fan Fic, who has always been quiet, self-moderated, and who never comes to you for anything is suddenly PM'ing you constantly from all different users, doesn't that tell you this is beyond drama and possibly a very deep-rooted problem?'
My answer? Yes it does. I don't care how long your posts are. Let's not quit until we have a resolution. You guys have been excellent in not becoming hostile, debating responsibly, and just about everywhere possible using facts and figures to strengthen your case.
I must say I'm very disappointed that not all mods from Fan Fic are participating in this. What does that say? Regarding the PM left in place for so long, even though it was ultimately deleted, by leaving it there so long once coming to the realization inappropriate material was shared it sets a double-standard. Avoiding it makes it worse.
Regular users have always been okay with mods making tough calls and mistakes, even accidentally sharing a PM, if the mod is typically approachable, active, responsible, and simply an active and respected member of the community. It's obvious there are two schools of moderating at work here - those of Healer Leona/Lady Padme and that of HermanSnerd/DantanaSkywalker.
I think it's a time of self-reflection and questions. Can the Fan Fic forums continue or mend things under two contrasting forms of moderation? My thought is no. If it is to continue, HS/DS need to quiclky reflect what HL/LP is doing. There really aren't a great deal of courses of action. Herman, by you essentially being absent from all this, it sends a bad message.

Communication is at the center of all this and you're not getting it from some of your mods. HermanSnerd's complete absence is unsettling and you deserve far better than what he has given. He's a good guy, but your forum is suffering and I see his current and past actions as causing a lot of it and not helping it.

I think a big part of your problems stem from the top. Even though Herman may or may not have a fried modem, that was two weeks ago. With libraries and millions of free computers available to everyone around the world and about 50 different e-mail addresses to contact us, he has sent zilch. Not even anything for us to pass onto the Focus Group. Your left to your own devices without even so much as full mod participation. That's weak and unacceptable.

I apologize for not being around yesterday to welcome you into the focus group discussion. As I mentioned elsewhere I was dealing with some car trouble and it just ate my day.
As it turns out, it's probably a good thing because last night I was so disheartened by what I read on these boards that had I been less exhausted I would likely have written things that I would have regretted.
In any case, reading through what you've written today, I have to echo the sentiments of others who are feeling incredibly relieved that the problems that have been plaguing fanfiction have come into focus for you. All we've been asking for all along is for dialogue on all levels to help us solve our problems, and now that you're completely on board, I'm feeling much more confident that Fan fiction will soon become the place it once was: quiet, and happy. I know that you're in the midst of an incredibly tough time elsewhere, so the fact that you're paying careful attention to the problems in fanfiction makes me doubly grateful.

To all in Fan Fic, there are other things in motion which you cannot see or know at this time but they are all for the greater good of your forum and completely in the best interests of your forum and for getting it back on track.

Sape, I've responded after finally getting home again.
I have to second LP's relief that were all on the same page now as the open addressing of things is what's really needed.
The most important issue has been of communicating. The addressing of issues and explanations and explantions of explanations is critical when the typed words on a screen can be interpreted differently. It's so difficult when tone and intent are not available and this is why answering questions is so very vital, even if one does explain a modding action.

I will say it again, both Lady Padme And Healer Leona  have been really reaching out to our community, and the community has been happy to reach back... contraary to what you 'visitors' may see here, there have been a lot of strides forward, and I believe very firmly that credit is definately due.
