I agree with what Jenn said... if there's a problem again, what will users do if the process doesn't work? We don't want a repeat of this drama.

Yes, you can. As I explained to LP in a pm earlier, I was extrememely busy this past weekend with company and other things and didn't get a chance until today to post here.
And Jesina and CodeName_Targeter apparently also work with you? Or is it just coincidence that the three of you decided to bring this up now?

That's the point, obi_ew. That's WHY Ophelia asked that petitions be accepted. And no Admin ever responded on that.

So you think petitions should be accepted now?

More, I'm interested in what happens if the new policy doesn't work, so that things don't blow up like this again.

I don't like petitions, but I'm willing to concede that ones with a different tone could be acceptable. However, guidelines should probably be in place to, again, avoid drama. Isn't that the reason for this FG? To discuss what happened in order to avoid future drama?

YK: No, actually, we don't. Actually, we're in different states. Actually, we're in different time zones. However, as I said in the welcome thread several days ago, this was 4th of July weekend, and surprisingly, some people do stuff over those days. Forgive us for not being glued to our computers 24/7. Forgive us for having jobs/lives that take up some of our time. Forgive us, all of you. We cannot take the shame and shall now bow down to all your demands and stop bringing up legitimate concerns that we have just now had the time to voice.

Myri and Targeter,
No. This process is not the same as what happened prior. Thanks Breezy for the reprint
from the Moderator Complaint Resolution Process
Once receiving a complaint, an administrator will begin an investigation. The administrator will review the post(s) indicated, the user notes of the involved parties, as well as any other relevant materials. If additional information is required, the administrator will contact the user(s) and moderator(s) involved in the matter for further information. In the case of further investigation, all parties will be requested to describe their views of the matter. Once enough information is available, the investigating administrator will decide a resolution for the complaint. If the investigating administrator determines that discipline may be required against a moderator, the case will be given to the Head Admin for review and final decision. The investigating administrator may choose to make a non-binding recommendation to the Head Admin on possible resolutions.
All complaints will be reported to the Head Admin by the investigating administrator(s) on a weekly basis, providing a summary of both the complaint and its resolution or current status (i.e. received, under investigation, awaiting responses, etc). If the Head Admin determines that a moderator has accumulated excessive complaints, the Head Admin may initiate further investigation or discipline as required. The Head Admin may decide to delegate investigation of a complaint to a different admin than the one receiving the initial complaint.
This process calls for much more investigation than was done previously. Considering the length and depth of the complaints PMed to admin, there was no back and forth or request for a description of views beyond the initial PMs received. Also, there is now a structure in place to review complaints on a weekly basis within the admin staff. That way users can be sure that their complaints are being discussed among all the admin.
So no it's not the same process. If you had read the complaint process and compared them to what had been done as posted in this FG you would see that.

Right. On the part of the admins. Not on the part of users.
Which is what I personally am a bit concerned about.

The FG has been open for a month. And as you said, you took the time to post in the welcome thread that it was 4th of July weekend, you could have easily posted these concerns then. The fact that the three of you don't work together, don't live in the same state, and don't live in the same time zone makes it all the more peculiar that none of you could find the time to voice this similar sentiment until the same moment at the end of the FG.
There's no need to get defensive about it, I'm only asking questions

How so? What is it you want demanded of the users?

I'm a bit confused by that also. How and what should the users be investigating? There was already tons of facts and proof presented.

Let's take a hypothetical situation.
Say a group of users decided that I, Thrawn_McEwok, ought to be banned as a JC user, and started preparing a petition...
As soon as I got to hear of this, I'd want to know what exactly I'd done to annoy them, and what I could change about the way I acted to change their view of me.
I would try to work out my issues with them.
Maybe that's just me?
***
And in case people have forgotten, the "Rebel" agenda represented by the petition was always supported by copious references to specific incidents, where certain Mods did things that concerned other users and then failed to address those concerns, but rather compounded them...
Can we take this horse to the knackers now?
Or do we have to assemble a petition backed by a long list of evidence?

Alright, one last quick thought before I have to leave for the night.
I find it amazing that after only a month, we're already shutting down, especially when I heard that this would take 2 to 3 months. Then again, I also find it amazing that all disscussion nearly stopped, (minus the whole blow up with Renata) once Dana and Herman were gone. Coincidence? Nah, it can't be.
Once again, my apologies for having a job and spending some time with my family over the past few days.

There's no need to get defensive about it, I'm only asking questions
Hmm, let's see. I have a family that takes up my holidays. And I've been out of my house since 7 am. I got back to my town at 7 pm, then went grocery shopping, cleaned my house, did laundry, and made dinner. It's now 10pm my time. Sorry for not being around earlier.
And, in all honesty, I had intended not to post in this forum anymore, a fact which I mentioned to Jenn and Myri, because I was tired of being told "everything's decided" - which, as far as I was concerned, meant "Everything went our way, so we're done here." But then I checked in anyway, expecting the board to BE shut down and saw that there was still posting going on, and thought "hey, they've been telling me to shut up for a while now. What's another hour of it?"
And, as far as not getting defensive when someone's only asking questions, you all might have taken that advice a good long while ago.
