This has been open for a month. I have a full time job and a life also, as I'm sure the others do.

Targeter: I find it amazing that after only a month, we're already shutting down, especially when I heard that this would take 2 to 3 months. Then again, I also find it amazing that all disscussion nearly stopped, (minus the whole blow up with Renata) once Dana and Herman were gone. Coincidence? Nah, it can't be.

No, it's not a coincidence at all.

Myri: You and several other users are all posting at the same time, saying much the same thing. How is that different?

I'm not bringing up issues with "25 minutes to go," so to speak. I just find it peculiar, that's all.

Again, I've been thinking about them since *Thursday,* but didn't get a chance to write them up in a coherent post until today.

Yoda and myself are actually married and deeply in love.

That's why we're always posting at the same time, and saying the same thing.

A sort of Luke/Mara vibe.

Happy?

I agree with YK. It's not a coincidence as many of fanfics problems stemmed directly from the actions of the two moderators now gone. It's preaching to the choir to talk to LP and Leona about most of these issues. They have both proven willing to listen and change.

I ran an office with a design staff of twelve, worked 50 hour weeks, kept 4 horses in work, and cared for two dogs, two cats and a husband during the last month, but I also knew I had accepted this responsibility. I would expect those who accepted VIP colors to honor the responsibility given with those nifty colors.

Every issue from the opening statement of this thread has been discussed to my satisfaction. I believe it's time to move on.

Yes, because it's only your satisfaction that matters.

That's one of the most arrogant things I've seen posted on this board, by anyone - and I freely admit I've been out of line a time or two.

But, I have to say, I'm not surprised, because that's the way I've seen this since day 1. YOUR concerns mattered. No one else's. You guys got what you want, so fan fiction is fine now. Never mind that trust - in mods and admins, never mind regular users - that was present before has literally been shattered in some people's minds.

Your satisfaction has been met, so we're done.

Fine. Have it your way. That's what it's been all along.

Jade just posted this in the WHTG thread and I applause her suggestions.

Jade posted:
This is for Myri, CNT, Jesina, and anyone else who feels the FG2 still needs to discuss the user complaint process.

I agree that there might be some details that still need to be worked on. However, and I add the bold markups just for emphasis:

The discussion belongs in Comms.

That's my opinion, anyway.

The user complaint process doesn't just affect Fan Fic. It affects everyone across the JC. It's fine to keep raising questions about what could go wrong, what should be further explained, etc, but IMHO that should be taken to Comms. There's already a sticky thread.

And if you think one month was way too short for the FG 2 to be open, let me tell you, I was really hoping that FG 1 would be over and done with by now. I'm impressed that FG 2 has tackled the issues quickly and efficiently. I don't mind that a couple things got passed on to FG 1 for further discussion, but if we're all trying to move on, why keep the discussion in a forum where only invited VIPs can reply? Why not bring it out here into Resource?

If there are still things specific to Fan Fic that need to be discussed, I would like to see discussion moved here. Things like Fan Fiction's Future. But Moderator Accountability and the User Grievance Process should go to Comms.

Jes': I'm not surprised, because that's the way I've seen this since day 1.

So good to know you went into this with an open mind...

Beyond the fact that you have an inflexibly negative opinion of some of the people on this Focus Group, do you actually have a point to make?

Or can we just boil the carcass of the argument down and make some glue?

Hey, it's okay guys. I've been called arrogant before. wink

thinking

I didn't realize it was now arrogant to simply express a personal belief. I still believe that it's time to move on. That holds no bearing on what others are inclined to believe or not believe.

Everyone, please STOP RIGHT NOW!!!!

I was ordered to keep this focus group open past the original deadline that had been discussed between me and DarthSapient, however, if this goes on I WILL lock all of these threads for a breather.

Myri, while the concern you brought up is understandable and legitimate, it does belong in Comms, not this focus group. This focus group was brought up to discuss how fanfiction should be moderated. The question you've brought up of how to prevent future problems such as this is not relevant to how moderators should moderate fanfiction; it deals with how users should behave to redress grievances.

There is a NEWLY implemented grievance process in effect. It is now an official process and it should be given its chance. Moreover, now that administrators are more aware of issues with communications break downs I think its fair to give all: administrators, moderators and users a chance to let things heal.

I'd really like this to end before the new moderators are promoted. While they should be aware of the issues that have led us here, we need to move forward and start letting fanfiction heal.

I agree with LadyPadme as I think this issue transcends just the Fanfic boards and the current discussion deals with how users should behave to redress grievances.

While I do not want to see more of the previous posting of who blames what on whom, which only causes others to post defensively, I do agree that this issue of user repsonsibility may best be served in COMMS, while the Future of Fanifc belongs on the Resource.

Respectfully LP, I think any person being considered for Modship of fan fic would be well versed with 'what goes on' by now! tongue

I'm sorry for getting rather heated, LP. I'll try to tone it down.

I think this belongs here, because it started here and it has much signifigance to us. No one else on the boards really care... take a look in comms. Whenever someone mentions the drama here, the reaction is usually "huh?" Also, in discussing it, I, for one, would like to reference the No Confidence petition.

Also, I don't think the drama has been cleared up. I think things have been swept under the rug and now everyone's standing on it, hoping no one notices.
