	I think this belongs here, because it started here and it has much signifigance to us. No one else on the boards really care... take a look in comms. Whenever someone mentions the drama here, the reaction is usually "huh?" Also, in discussing it, I, for one, would like to reference the No Confidence petition. - The issue isn't whether or not any one would care in Comms. The issue is that your concern of the petition and the whole process that has gone on in fanfic is something that can potentially recur anywhere on TFN, and therefore, if you're concerned about recurrence, it should be redressed as a boardwide issue. It doesn't matter where it started. And again, this is not an issue of the moderation of fanfiction. It's an issue of users' behavior. What happened on these boards was lamentable and upsetting, and while I agree that I would like to avoid an occurrence at all costs, none of what happened violated TOS. Moreover, since the administration is now aware of issues with communications breakdowns and have responded by actively implementing a system for grievances that had not been in place before, I reiterate that it's fair that we all give that system a chance. Also, I don't think the drama has been cleared up. I think things have been swept under the rug and now everyone's standing on it, hoping no one notices. - What it sounds like you're looking for is for certain people to stand up and apologize for their part in what happened and promise they'll never do it again. I think most people agree that no one came out of this entire debacle without getting tarnished. But if you're going to wait for people to say mea culpa you might end up waiting a long time. Isn't it better if we all just agree to work together to give the new grievance process a chance and we agree to work together to put fanfiction back to where it once was? 	I think things are at a good point for a new start. Most of the moderating complaints I have seen refer to people no longer in that position (for whatever the reason). There is a new grievance procedure posted in Comms. There are selection processes ongoing for new mods. At this point I think the best thing to do is give the new mods (whoever they might be) time to settle into the position. I am sure HL and LP will be supervising them and letting them know if they are getting things wrong. If there are grievances with the new mods after a settling-in period then I think there might be grounds for further discussion amongst the FanFic mods and possibly involving the Admin staff. 	I really like the new Mod Accountability process. This might not sound quite right, but I'm interested in seeing it in action...Leona, would you mind if I bombarded you with sexually suggestive PMs so we can give it a whirl? Although you've never reported me for that in the past... Seriously, I think HL and LP deserve great credit for the way they've tried to change and adapt according to feedback from users. The new Moderators will be learning in turn from them, and I think several Mods could and should have learnt about the issue of their responsibilities from the topics here, this one in particular. I don't mind whether this FG stays open or not. But perhaps continuing the discussion over in Comms, now a fair amount of the 'leg work' and large amounts of information have been tabled here, will also help with letting everyone see how things are working behind the scenes, so to speak. -----signature----- I love all 6 Star Wars films. 	I did a lot of thinking about this the last couple days and I've come to a conclusion... While I still think that there is resentment simmering under the surface that has the potential to give fanfic a strained atmosphere, I also recognize that if only a few people believe this, nothing can be done about it. Therefore, I have decided that continuing my attempts to understand the reasoning behind the "rebels'" actions and trying to show them my reasoning will only be met with the charge that I am disturbing the peace. In conclusion... I don't want the stress from that, nor do I want it to disrupt my life away from these boards. This is still just an internet board, and therefore, quite frankly, not worth the time and aggravation it's been causing. One of the things that bothers me the most is the hypocrisy I see. If you signed the petition because you thought removing Dana was the best thing for the boards and you honestly saw no other way, say so. I'll respect you much more than I do when you hide behind trite phrases and excuses. I do have one more thing to say: I'm not leaving. No matter how this ends or who else becomes mod, I am not leaving. I will continue to post stories, read others, and be a part of this community. I have the Saga awards to work on. I have commitments here and I'll uphold them. But, I'll also be missing the community we used to have here, because I believe it's not going to return unless we actively work towards it by facing the past and coming to some sort of truce over it rather than ignoring it. Please, just think about this... 	I was going to reply and address several of your remarks point by point, but I decided to just let it go. And that's my advice to you and others who seem determined to drag this out, on both sides. Let it go. Feelings were hurt on both sides and no amount of dredging up what happened in the past is going to heal that. On the contrary it will only keep the wound open. We need time and distance in order to heal and get back to some semblance of normal. I feel we're moving in the right direction with the addition of VaderLVR as one of the new mods. And you’re right. This is only a fan fiction board and we all need to remember that and get over ourselves. I'm happy to relocate the discussion to PM/Comms/WHTG/JEDI/whatever, though...] Myri: at the risk of quoting myself excessively, I'm going to say that I at least tried to express my position clearly when I started the petition thread at JEDI, in the preamble to the very first post on 3rd May (here): I posted: My personal view is that Dana, and possibly Herman have made their positions as Mods untenable. You don't have to agree with me. Read the thread, make up your own mind - and whatever your opinion, I'd love to hear from you. If you can come up wit a cogent reason why you think I'm being an ass, please do. However, matters have got to the stage where I'm starting this thread to assemble a petition of No Confidence in Dana. I'm also thinking about one for Herman, but I know less about him... If you have an opinion you wish to air on the matter, post it in this thread. Speaking for myself, my reason for starting the petition was that I had lost confidence in Dana and Herman as neutral Moderators. But resignation was never the only option open to them.
