This isn't a bad idea. Especially with so many games going on, it's sometimes difficult to keep track of when signups are, or when your answer to a game question is due.

This is just an off the top of my head idea, not something I've sat and planned for a while, so I don't have all the rough spots ironed out.
I kind of expected that it is mostly smaller stuff, like PI day is 3/14. How many different threads do you think would get made about that? And if more than one got made, I don't think they would last too long, as we've discussed in the other threads, they would just sink.
Now if we made the first Friday of each month: Parody Thread Day, where all parody threads (within the TOS and other rules) would be allowed, I could see it getting spammy for the day, but it would be a crazy energy release day (hopefully) just for that day.
And as Brian said somewhere else, sometimes the fun is seeing things get locked that you KNOW and expect will be locked.
I was thinking it would turn into a lot of small things that kept the forum interesting, not something that was a major production like happens on the major holidays.
But keep talking here. I didn't think everything through before typing it out.
It could be that nobody would care about this either.

I like the idea of a calander. Make it a sticky thread, and the Mods can update it without involving zerosleep.

We'll actually discuss this in our JCC mod forum, because we need to refine it a bit as far as how we'll do it technically.

This is why I'm against the calender: if I know Pirate day is coming a month or two in advance, that#s 1-2 months of build up of anger and frustration. By the time that godforsaken day finally rolls around, things are likely to get ugly.
The way it is now, it just sort of jumps up and surprises me, making it far easier for me to ignore.

Brian was kidding. He only hates pirates because they tried to take over his sub one day, and then sent the giant squid to chase him.
Why do pirates make you so uptight?
When we talked about tolerance and thicker skins in the other threads, this is a perfect example. Throwing away an idea that could be fun, because someone doesn't like something is pretty silly. I think that many people would look forward to seeing when the next Million Colors is scheduled to start, or that tomorrow is Kiss A Submarine Commander day and wonder what the heck that is.
If you don't like that pirate day could show up on there, then you shouldn't take the chance to look at it, and then nothing has changed for you. You will remain ignorant of the fact until it is sprung on you.

I suggest we throw in a new day for fun. Have ourselves a Day of the Walking Dead, where we change the JC banner and such to look all zombie like and bust out zombie socks. Might be fun.

Actually I suggest October 1 for that. This is the 40th Anniversary of Night of the Living Dead. According to IMDB, the US release date was 1 October 1968. It would also make a nice lead-in to the Halloween festivities.

I like the idea of more theme days. Also using current events (sport events, elections whatever more) as themes for a day. It keeps things interesting.

Thanks! And as I said before, it wouldn't require a banner. Just having it on a calendar would make it official and I think people would look for things to do with those days.
I'd like a Muppet/Henson day!
