I thought there was a line drawn before about promoting drug use and alcohol use was a no-no because a great percentage of the users were under legal drinking ages.
Is this still the case?
As one example, I love to laugh at Kitty as much as the next person. She intentionally posts things that bring attention to herself, good and bad.
But is her adventures with beer appropriate for the forum?
I understand and appreciate an occasional post that talks about these things as the relate to the topic at hand, but entire threads that are just about drug or alcohol use seem to be throwing policy away, and it should be reviewed IMO.
I'm NOT saying tighten down and ban all mention of it, just review whether we still are going to have the rule or not.
I think it is valid as a general topic here, just that Kitty's post brought it to mind.
(I am looking around the JCC and doing research.)
What do you think?
P.S. I believe Kitty should be forced to do community service and provide a report in a thread of the dangers of alcohol and teens.

There was a fairly recent (like in the last six months) comms discussion about this. I believe it is okay to talk about alcohol.. I think what they are discouraging is the "OMG! I'm so wasted right now guyz!!11!" posts.
Here Page six at 50 posts per page.

No, you are supposed to be agreeing with me, remember?
Thanks for the link.
I don't remember this.
So if I have to go 300 posts into a comms thread to read about the policy for JCC that changed, is that a good thing?
I did look in the JCC policy thread and didn't see anything about it before I posted this thread.
If it is just the "I'm so wasted" that is being edited, then I am fine with that and the thread may not be necessary.

Discussing the merits of various beers, wines and spirits isn't an issue to me. Posting after having gotten wasted on a mix of the three, and promoting it is a different story.
Any promotion of drug abuse, regardless of whether they're illegal or not should be a different case.
There are plenty of adults in the JCC that may want to discuss them, to where I don't think discussing specific drinks, and preferences should even be an issue.

I'm not opposed to adults discussing them, I was just bringing up policy that I didn't realize had been changed or at least approved.
I thought it had always been talk of drinking was not allowed period due to the underage status of most members.

There are some underage people in there discussing their favorite beer, and I guess that should probably be looked at... dunno, thoughts?

"Underage" is a relative term, given different drinking ages in the home countries of many users, all of which are less strict than America. I don't see what can be done, unless "American laws only" rules are enforced, and that would annoy a lot of people than can drink legally in their own country.
EDIT: Terrible grammar

Well the original thing that made me start this thread, appears to be a non issue, so maybe it isn't needed after all.

Yeah, this was discussed in Comms as was a lot of our rules overhaul. If we need to clarify the drinking posts policy, we can, but people really haven't been abusing them.
There HAVE been some that were obviously posting drunk that shouldn't have... And that will still get you a ban.
Remember, we're not here to change rules. We did that recently during a long and painful discussion in Comms.
We're not here to overhaul the JCC, but things like "where is the line on innuendo" and "sexual harassment" (to name a couple) where we need to calibrate are our main concern.

I wasn't aware the policies on alcohol discussion had changed, either. I don't think adults of age (for whatever country they're in) should be a problem. As long as they're not promoting the use of alcohol to minors.
But, as has been mentioned, when there are minors (in their respective countries, as it's generally known where posters are from) talking about alcohol use, I think that's probably against the rules, yeah?

I think it depends on how the minors are discussing alcohol. Posting something like 'My dad is always drunk/high and I need advice' is a lot different than posting 'Lolz! I'm posting after drinking beer!'.

I think I've found the answer to this problem and the Religion problem.
Let's make one thread for people to post about Religion, while they're drunk! Then, you contain the madness in one thread, and we get some quality entertainment.

Well yeah, naturally. I mean minors talking about illegal use of drugs or alcohol.
