I was going to make this thread yesterday, but I fell asleep. As we all know user appreciation threads arent allowed on JCC. However there are threads (blog threads, threads calling users out, etc) that could be considered by some to be user appreciation threads.
What I'm trying to get at is should threads about a specific user be allowed? And if they should, where should the line be drawn before they turn into a "user appreciation thread".
What are everyone's thoughts, feelings on this, or am I alone on this one?

I think the ones made, are moderated correctly as far as the rules are stated now.
Call out threads are usually some form of parody thread, but almost always are harmless. That's probably why a lot of them aren't locked right away.
In fact, the only appreciation threads I think really need to be locked are the ones that specifically say "The official [insert username here] appreciation thread".

Yeah. I don't see the harm. I think threads about other users generate a sense of community--like we all know each other and care about each other. They go in waves. For a while, every other thread is about user A. Before long, people get bored with that and move on to user B. Harmless fun, imo. (except when they're about me. Then they're neither harmless nor fun! >:O )

I don't think the line is difficult to draw, I think it has been correctly drawn, and I don't think this is a problem that needs addressing.

Not in the sense of user appreciation threads. Im talking along the lines of blog threads (we all know that one), and other threads that basically are based one specific user.
Apparently Im the only one who sees a problem with this.

Well, certain blog threads are designed to keep certain rambunctious users from making too many other threads, and can be a good thing...

Uh-huh. You write me into a thong and I'm supposed to believe that you don't want to know if what they say is true? Hah!
On topic. I think Arlon's thread is the best thing to happen to the JCC. It's like a container for his posts. His fans go there to check on it daily and those of us who aren't fans, aren't sujected to 20 different threads on the subject. I can live with this.

Im going to pose another question, if he can have a thread all about him, why cant you have a thread or me? At this point though, isnt it turning more or less into his appreciation thread anyways?

Which would be great if it did contain Arlon's stuff, but every so often it spills over.
Though I stand by the classic insanity that was the Tobias Bandit debacle.
