Yeah, we could definitely make the teams smaller, etc. We can also pull the number of players down to 8. That tends to make drafts go a bit quicker, as well. At least for the first draft, I think that'd make sense.

GIMER posted: Do we have to wait until you officially post it, to see what your idea of how the Idol game will be played?
Yeah, sorry. I will try to get to it tomorrow. I had a spinal injection yesterday and a mid-term today so you'll pardon me if I'm a little slow

You got spinal implants? Saline or silocone?
I KNEW they would come up with something to improve bad posture!

So I've been mulling over game ideas and which games have gone well. I think Ban or no ban goes exceedingly well--especially when it's an impromptu game. That's what I think we need. Games that we can play on the fly with little or no preparation. I also would love to see some head-to-head games where two players are going against each other, 'cause that'll encourage audience participation as opposed to just the players taking part.
So I was thinking we could play:
Heads-up Texas Hold 'em: Give both players X number of chips and the player who busts the other first, wins a day of VIPship.
Trivia game (like $64,000 question or Tic-tac-toe): This one would be timed so as to minimize google usage.
Thoughts?

I like the idea of more "spontaneous" games and head-to-head games. Then again, I love any kind of game because it's great fun, for both participant and audience.
The poker game, I saw it in the Arena, Im not sure how well it'll do in the JCC where things are moving at a much higher pace. We might have to settle for a faster version.
And what do you think about random trivia questions: A question gets posted, the first user to post the right answer gets colors for an hour?

That's the point of a heads up game, Erwin--much faster pace with only two players and a definite pot-size. The dealer can control the pace of the game. We can give it a 2 hr limit, too and says whoever has the most money after 2 hrs wins.

I agree.
$20,000 Pyramid could make a good quick game too maybe...
