I agree with KW. That was the main issue with the atheism thread a while back, it was just a back-and-forth between two or three users. That's definitely when it isn't a JCC thread anymore.

i agree with KW. i said something similar in the other thread; if a broad topic becomes too refined it then doesn't work for everyone participating.

Well, circumstances where a broad topic becomes too refined then either the entire thread should be directed towards the Senate or if the thread is being monopolised by two or three users then they should be directed to the Senate to either create their own thread or to join an existing thread on the subject.
The reality is that both threads will probably just die as such action tends to destroy the momentum that sometimes get generated between aone or two users in a discussion - but that need not always be the case.

That's as close to a "votable policy" as we could get on that issue, which we mods will bear in mind when we retreat to our lofty mountain... retreat... to discuss these issues. However, I think now we have 2 or 3 real, quantifiable indicators to work off is a great step forward.
