If I recall, restarting threads after around 2,000 posts or so was going to be trialled as Senate policy following the last Senate FG.

I never even thought about the purpose of restarting threads. I always thought it was due to the fact that the argument had died out or had devolved into a flame war (which I suppose ARE valid reasons for restarting them as well) but I never even thought about restarting them for the purpose of inviting newcomers to jump in and discuss. Capitol idea, capitol. *finally jumps on the bandwagon* "I did it!" /penguin voice.

Yeah. And that's my idea, so you can't claim that one.
Uh, and 2000 posts, to me, is waaaayyy too high. I realise I have a short attention span, but as a JCC user I am hesitant to jump into any thread longer than 10 pages (on 25 posts per page).

Yes, but the point remains the same. 250 posts is not many posts for a Senate topic, and discussion would be difficult to maintain. However, as I said, I think I'm representing a lot of people when I say I'm hesitant to jump into a thread that is over 10 pages.
