TFN Interactive
is proud of our stable of freeware Star Wars games, and is very pleased to welcome the sequel of our acclaimed Battle of Endor space simulation game,
Battle of Yavin
. Along the same lines of X-Wing Alliance or X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, you pilot an X-Wing agaist the backdrop of a beautifully rendered Death Star, railing through TIE Fighters and Star Destroyers before battling it out above the massive battle station itself. Destroy Radar Domes, Deflector Sheilds, Turbolasers, and still fight off TIE Fighters and Star Destroyers before making your epic run on the Thermal Exhaust Port.

RE: STAR WARS: The Battle of Yavin. 3D space combat game, AVAILABLE NOW!
hi ive downloaded this game...
installed etc.
i cant get the game to start up.
it brings up a little loading window with a picture on it.. then it dissapears and nothing happens.
(same happens with battle of endor)
my system specs are.
p4
1.6
512ram
gforcefx5200 (directx9.0)
windows xp.
im not too clever with the whole direct x stuff..
it says i need 8.1
if thats the problem why the game isnt working could someone give me a download link..
altho will this affect the other games i play (swg etc.)
maybe im dumb.. but do i need some kind of engine for this game to run on?
is this a mod?
or is it a standalone game?
the screens look nice.. shame i cant play it.
any help?

It's possible that if you can't play SWG that you're missing the proper DirectX level. You can download 9.0b
here
.

Same with me. I made it to the Vader part with 2 lives and was dead within less then a minute. This game is great. Just as good as the first one. I wonder if this game has a cheat thing in it like the Endor one. I did notice the lives that are earned from the accumulation of points, but are clearly not enough to face Darth Vader.

Hmmm..finally made it into the trench, started weaving in and out then smacked into a building...never made it to Vader. And I did like how you worked in virtually every pilot ever mentione din either a LEC game, the novels, the movies...very cute seeing Rookie 1 and Ru Murleen in Blue squad
Couple of suggestions:
1. Loose one of the ISDs at the beginging. It's too repetetive, and a little too much like Battle of Endor. The cool thing about this installment is the surface fight, and the trench run. I wanna get to it, and spend a minimal amount of time fighting back through the Stardestroyer.
2. Did you take the ISD down a few notches from BoE version c? Seems way too easy now, goes down very quickly.
3. Was it your intention to have all the rebels wiped out at the deflection tower phase? When that ISD shows up, seems everyone bites it really quick. Might be nice to even up the odds a bit.
4.Can you either increase the draw distance, or move the Deathstar sprite closer to the action in space? It's a little weird having it fade in an out and in and out.
5.How about wingmen this game? Maybe set x wings to work in groups of three? Two to follow the leader? I always liked that kind of WWII feel to the dogfight chatter; everyone covering each other on attack runs...that kind of thing.

RE: STAR WARS: The Battle of Yavin. 3D space combat game, AVAILABLE NOW!
some answers.
to know when you get extra lives read the readme.txt file
to see an advice in the darth vader chase read the readme.txt file
after the splash screen (little loading screen) the game will still loading with a black screen, if you have many programs in memory it will take a while, maybe you should wait longer. but if after half an hour it still don't start then oviously it wont play ;-)
the '445' run time error is due to some files that are not registered, that could probabily be because you uninstalled battle of Endor after installing Yavin.
they share the same dll files so you will have to reinstall yavin.
the minimize problem is due to some memory programs, like msn, email or antivirus or some s.o. configuration. you will have to figure it out. :-(
ISDs repetitive? maybe you have played to much battle of Endor.
Rebels damage will increase along the game, because they get hit from enemy lasers, when they get at stage 4, oviously all of them have some intense damage.
They don't always have to be destroyed, I made it to stage 5 and saved all my team mates. (maybe because I am the creator of it? :-))
hope this helps.

Just as the Battle of Endor, an excellent game, and just as addictive, well done!!
Just one point though, maybe put a difficulty setting in so that people who aren't too hot at computer games (me!) have a chance to complete it!
Ta very much.
