I like to mix and match. Some games may be multi-session, others single-side track missions. Sometimes, however, the players go off and turn a side-treck that sould have taken half an hour into a 6-hour extravaganza. I've tried the "here's a list of missions" with mixed results--sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Another way you can have a little fun with the players is to have several seemingly unrelated threads run through the adventures, then tie them together--let them see the tapestry.
Best advice: Be flexible. Get really good at improvising and "winging it."

I've never played table top except for trying to teach other people the rules (my girlfriend and brother). But personally, if it's just unconnected mission after unconnected mission, I'd feel 'unconnected' as if my character were just an object used to defeat the numbers of another character. If there's an on-going storyline, even if it's more behind the scenes, the players might flesh out their characters more, because they feel that you might have some destiny planned for them in the long run. Plus, they might be less willing to give their character over to death if they're in a pinch, so they'll have to be really noble to do so if necessary, or conjure up another plan.
You can sure as hell operate that way though, some freelance merc group or something. Jobs coming in, etc. maybe create a rival merc group who can be their nemesis', with one or two imaginary jobs on the plate for them snapped up by the merc group by the time they get back from the last (and if they do choose the job which you have made up, just do a 'ooh, I'm afraid that job's been taken since this transmission was received' kinda thing).
In my eyes, ongoing story = good.

RE: Gamer's Social Thread

Thanks for the input. I have been keeping track of how they've done everything so far and mainly who they've made enemies of. They'll definately be seeing some of them again . In that sense i'm keeping an over-arcing story of sorts. I've also incorporated events and people from the Legacy comic series. For instance, their bounty jobs all come from Rav on Socorro, there is an open ended bounty on Jedi put out by the Sith, and we're coming up on choosing which Empire they want to help out in their struggle. I keep a Jedi character on hand to kind of follow in the wings and make sure they don't die from over-powered enemies and thankfully so far i haven't had to use him much and additionally, they haven't tried to capture him and turn him in to the Sith! I've made three other "competing" groups to mirror/rival them. Say for instance there are four jobs and my group choose one, the other three crews take the other three jobs. It all might sound a little confusing and elaborate, but it pretty much leaves the whole story and their "fate" in their own hands. That was something we didn't really have control over in D&D under our old GM, and something i've tried to incorporate with the new group. They seem to have embraced it, but it sometimes requires me to fly by the seat of my pants a little more than i REALLY enjoy. All in all, we're having a lot of fun with it, and though the learning curve was a little tricky for me (we've had to redo our character sheets about a dozen times since the first game) but i'm finding it rewarding and fun. Now if only i could find another group in town so i don't always have to be the GM!
So far as an online supplement guide for premade enemies, ships, weapons and equipment, any ideas?
Thanks
Master Luc

see if there's a D20 translation of Craken's Threat Dosier, which was a West End Games D6 suppliment.
Of for a laugh, Craken's Collection of Crazed Crackpots.
There's also a thread in here of "Post Low-Level Characters Here" and the ever popular "Adventure Ideas Go Here".

"Everybode Panic" gave me a countdown link, but I have no idea what it was counting down to or for.
Aside from that, I can't say I'm surprised. WotC is going to constantly revamp the rules, whether the rules need it or not. While D&D 3.0 and 3.5 provided desperately needed cleanup, I'm not sure what 4.0 could really provide.
On a different note, I just got an email from a friend about some "jedi" petitioning the UN to acknoledge their religion. Pretty funny, but I'm not sure about just posting it here.

RPG related note--could someone with the Darkside Sourcebook let me know what the "Authority" special quality gives an inquisitor for some research of mine?
Thanks!

It allows the Inqisitor to add his Intimidate skill rank to Diplomacy checks with Imperial officers or Personnel.

They already said that Saga was intended to test some of the new stuff that will be used in 4th edition.
This is the 2nd time SW rpger's have been used as a test bed for D&D. I feel like a two dollar whore.
