hahaha thats wicked koohii, and more imaginable than what some people here in the UK did who were sick of junk mail. They stuck it in a plain envelope with a brick, didn't put any postage on it so that when they received it they would have to pay however much it costs to send a brick, just to see that they had been sent their own crap back.
Let me tell you, it was the nice people who sent bricks, those who were more peed off sent worse.

oh oh oH!! I just remembered something I read about a week or so ago which you'd find interesting if you don't already know Koohii. In fact, when I read it I thought of you
Sky tv are looking at producing a modernised version of Blake's 7, following the success of Battlestar Galactica and Dr Who.
Read more about it here

Thanks!
I could see this show going one of two ways. If it follows the Doctor Who/Torchwood revival, it could be good. If it follows the MI5/Jekyll model, it would suck and suck hard.
I'd hope for the former.
Don't know which will get richer: Paul Darrow or the estate of Terry Nation. Perhaps both?
Terry Nation: the only writer to get moderately famous and very rich working for the BBC. Blake's7, Daleks, Survivors (the 70s show, not the crappy reality TV), MacGuyver, and other series. Generally, he wrote the first season of the shows (so they were very, very good and consistant) then the BBC or network hacks started in with TN writing occasional eps, and the shows start to go downhill.

Aye, I was too young really for the first time it came around, so I wouldn't mind seeing it updated. I liked the fact that there was no happily ever after, and that they were just all offed in the last episode.
I would hate it if they brought it back and it was crap though, why not just make something rubbish up instead rather than drag something good down.

So, this wouldn't be a good time to voice my low opinion of the new BSG!
Or the American Doctor Who movie?
Or bringing back Knight Rider (again)?
Or Highlander: The Source
Or...
or...
or...
or...

American Dr Who movie?!? I never heard of it, that sounds... awful.
I haven't seen any of the new battlestar galactica, highlander went to the dogs when number 3 was made and a series was produced. Knightrider could be fun but I don't have high hopes. There seems to be a lack of original creativity at the moment, everything just seems to be remakes of old stuff. Inevitably you lose a lot of the things that made the original so good in the first place.

Obviously!
Look at kids tv today, most of it is absolute pants, but He-man, Transformers, Thundercats, they were good shows and they always had a moral. Now everything is just people dressed up in things with more bright colour than any child should ever have to witness.
Pass me my pipe and slippers!

And what's really messed up is that you're younger than me.

Dr Who movie... Sylvester McCoy regenerates to Paul McGaan.
That's about the only good part.
It was not just an american movie, it was a FOX TV movie. 1996.
Does that give you an idea of the overwhelming awfulness?

RE: Gamer's Social Thread

I have a conundrum.
The Copious Back Story: I grew up in Novato a town (newer residents have the delusion of calling it a city) 30 miles north of San Francisco. It's a bedroom suburb that backs onto dairy farms and wildlife preserves. The house I grew up in is next to a creak (read "Wild Animal Highway"). We had enough wild animals wander past to make Disney green with envy (squirrels, possums, foxes, quail, racoons, skunks, pheasant, otters, and DEER, to name a few). Some of you may have picked up on the fact that this has something to do with deer.
Unlike many people, I do not view deer as a nuisance, or a threat to rose gardens, or a menace of any kind. Nor to I see them as ambulatory barbecue fodder. I like them. They're fun to watch.
So, I went up to visit my mother last weekend. Around 11 at night, we hear a few loud cracks (with long 10-30 minute gaps in between) that sound suspiciously like gunshots. Seems that the less affluent migrant workers (poor illegals) have taken to hunting. Now, I'm the first to say I'm biased against hunting, but these people are violating a number of laws:
Illegal Immigration (can't just spot-check them on that, though)
Discharging a firearm within city limits
Hunting without a permit (probablly)
Hunting out of season (probablly)
Disturbing the peace (11pm discharge of firearms)
Unfortunately, I don't see any way to stop this. By the time the police are called, the echoes of the gunfire have died away, so they have no way of finding the people responsible.
So we have people violating the law with no way to catch them and no point in reporting incidents.
On the other hand, I'd hate to see the deer who visit us killed. There's one young buch in particular who is extremely curious (seen his nose pressed against the window looking in at us) if not very bright (had trouble figuring out how to get out of a fenced yard, even though he had no trouble getting in (followed a doe).
So, anyone else have any thoughts?

I don't think that it was that bad, personally. The Eighth Doctor was a pretty interesting incarnation. I just think that it was kind of rushed with the entire plot, in my opinion.
Of course, my memories of that movie may be sullied by the fact that I had to watch only about 16-19 minutes of it a day. Yeah, 56k modem and YouTube...

The short list of my gripes:
The doctor is not a messiah figure
The doctor is not a frankenstein figure
The Doctor does not kiss women
Doctor who is not highlander
The Master is not a vampire
The Tardis is not a goth fetish hall
Nor is the Tardis the batcave
The doctor is NOT half human
The Tardis has a scanner to see outside. The Doctor ALWAYS checks the scanner before stepping outside precisely so that he doesn't walk out into the middle of a gang war
Time Travel is handled with the level of sophistication that would annoy a JrHigh student. There are gaping holes in the plot
this is the SHORT list.

any chance of teaming up with a couple of other residents for a camera or something? is that a viable option? Get them on video or film and it's one way of making the police's job easier.
keep a diary of times & nmberof gunshots and get others to do the same, if it comes down to your word against theirs it will help hopefully
