Yeah but not the event. It is still being held...in fact i've already bought my four day badge. And was hoping to play in the championship this year.

I heard Wizards hasn't officially signed on until they here what is happening between Gen Con and LFL. I rather hope WotC does end up going or we may not.

How incredibly weird and wrong it would be to not have the company that makes D&D at Gen Con...

Sounds like a plan. I at least want to play in some of the sealed tourneys or something this year. I was busy running games last year and A&E didn't excite me enough to open up the time to play. But this year, I'm SO there.

Depends on the set, and your luck. For Legacy of the Force, there are 14 Rares and 14 Very Rares, so that makes a minimum of 28 packs. But that is with the best luck in the world. There are 12 packs in a case, and it's almost unheard of to get doubles in a case. There are 4 VRs in a case and 8 rares, so that would be a minimum of 4 cases. Cases are about $110 depending on where you get them. So like $4-500 if you get cases. But if you get JUST single packs, you could be spending like 1000, depending on your luck.
If you want to buy a complete set of a series, the best route is to go online with eBay or some online store.

Places sell complete sets for $300-400, so you're looking at that much minimum. I'd say a couple hundred more honestly. Much cheaper to buy some online, trade, or buy individuals at a store.

I'm not a big fan of ebay or even buying online. I guess I could get a case or two and then get the rest I need on ebay or online. Half the fun is opening the boosters to see what you get.

I found out the comic shop I go to plays Star Wars Miniatures almost daily, with tournament play on Sundays (last Sunday of the month is booster tournament). This is perfect. Now I can collect and play.

That's great. Out-of-the-box games can be a lot of fun (as long as you don't play against Dajuan. Seriously, she's insane with her good pulls, every time...)
your best bet (and by that I mean cheapest) for completing a set is to get 1 case, a few boosters in booster tourneys, and buy (or trade for) the rest individually. You can usually end up completing a set for $200-250 that way, again, depending on your luck.
