I haven't heard about anything on the horizon for Starship Battles. IIRC it didn't sell well and the rules were kind of crappy.

Oh, that's too bad.
I was hoping that, down the road, there's be minis of more EU starfighters, like the Assault Gunboat, TIE Defender and E-Wing.

How is battling with little plastic miniatures actually fun? sure I can see the collectible value and just how nice some of them are but whats with the battling?

People have described it like a fast paced combat only RPGs. You get stat cards to the "little men" all have different abilities. Until you really give it a play it's hard to describe.
