So the muse has fled me in my hour of need, so I'll see if you guys have any idea.

Ok, here’s the set up

The era is the height of the clone wars (closer to Sith than AotC). The team consists of three Jedi who have been tracking down a shady business that produces clones of popular celebrities, well known individuals and most importantly, one of the team who had died some time ago. Think of it like those life sized cutouts of the president outside the white house that you can get your picture taken with for 5 bucks.

Anyway, getting to the cloning factory/facility and discovered that the team's long running nemesis - a rouge Jedi/mad scientist is in the middle of one of her schemes

Her plan - she's developed a virus that infects the blood and attacks the midichlorians. For the average Joe Sixpack in the galaxy, getting a dose of this stuff will give them the equivalent of a bad cold at best. The stronger in the force you are, the harder it hits - all the way up to it'll kill folks like Yoda. (I'll also - if I can - expose the characters, but it kill them. It'll be a virus from a weaker, earlier batch that will only knock out most of their Midis for a while - basically a "lets take the Force away from our Jedi for a game or two" scenario).

When we left the game last week, the cliffhanger was she had just captured one of the team. I was intending that she'd try out the most recent version of the virus on the PC (one last trial to see hot it works) before taking her viral MacGuffin and running away. She's not prepared to fight three Jedi at the moment, and other two are on the way to her secret lab. She's got a very short time at best, so retreat is probably the best option.

(One other resource she might have had time to nurture - since she's had plenty of time with a state of the art genetics laboratory, perhaps she has several clones of the dead Teammate for her own private use. They wouldn't have been trained in the Force, but even 8 guys with lightsabers and a reasonably passing ability at using them would still be formidable.)

And there's where the muse fails me. What to do after she runs off with the MacGuffin. Head core ward and spray this stuff all over Courscant? Head to another planet for one final test on a wide scale? (There's a small Jedi retreat just a couple of sectors over). What would make for a satisfying climax from here? Also, a secondary goal - I'd like to try and keep the Nemesis alive, so preferably keeping her in a supervisory roll would be dandy.

A virus, you say?
Well...
What could be more fun? How does it spread? Contact? Airborne? Fluid/Blood?
How contagious? 100%? Fort save -4?

Were I the evil genius, angel I'd spritz an early version on the prisoner, and leave the latest version in a bottle labled "Antidote" in the medical supplies. This could be a good test run, and possible impact far greater than the party may imagine. If they take the antidote to the council for innoculations, for example, and the council replicates this "retrovirus"... well now, that would be interesting. devil

As for the effects: early version, loss of 2 levels of powers (or some such) while body tries to fight it off. Half VP or WP maybe. Also penalty to Fort saves for duration of illness. Of course, it will take a transfusion of fresh new medichlorines or something equally exotic to act as a cure. Or as a restorative once the virus has finished burning the medichlorines out of the victim's system.

As for the challenge: yes, your scientist should escape, if possible, to set up a new base. If she does get caught, well, maybe she, too, is a clone.
Have the 8 copies of the former party member turn up. His personality may not be complete (hey, maybe they could be a vehicle to expose the rest of the party to the virus), and he may not have training, but it wouldn't be easy to kill your friend, or someone who looks enough like him, 8 times.

This could also be a good time to resurrect some of the party's previous problem-children. Any tough villain from the past could be cloned so long as there was a cell sample somewhere out there, and the memmories could be recreated as raw data. How do you think old Obi-Wan would have felt if Darth Maul has shown up on the DeathStar?

i strongly agree with the person at the lab being a clone of the real one u could make them think they got her and one or two adventures later after fighting new plots and villains have her turn up again with an ambush or some other surprise attack. of course it doesnt have to be an outright attack either. hmmmm....

Let your mad scientist kill some Jedi NPC. Or, even better, completely obliterate some obscure Force tradition. What better test than that?

The PCs are stuck on some backwater planet, fighting against Dark Adepts and virus-infested critters. Things become personal when their favorite Jedi Master comes to the rescue with a clone batallion and they have to face the loss of a loved one.

If and when the virus is sent to Coruscant. Make sure that the evil genius is carrying a decoy and there are dozens of ships with the virus. And if they can get the Senate to shut down the star ports(as if) then put it in a torpedo sent to the Temple.

As I watch the Jedi train and prepare endlessly for their self appointed role as saviors of the Galaxy
the Sith whom constantly strive and bicker with their comrades; always ready to prey on the weak,
I must wonder;
do none of these people have lives?

Oooh, that one would be good since they'll need to keep her alive (beheaded dark jedi arent very forthcoming with information, after all) - and that'll really twist the knife.

Oh, of course - as soon as we get around to playing. We've had some problems linking up on the weekend, so the game's been on hold for the last 4 or so weeks. This weekend will see things go do, most likely.
