After preparing for the likely injuries that may soon flood the cramped medical bay, Yuul walked over the the comm panel and, pressing the bridge comm line asked, "Captain what's the situation, who's attacking?" Yuul hoped it was only a minor pirate group, something the
Cetacean Princess had a chance against, if it was anything larger they might as well surrender.

Salon level - Cetacean Princess
Lady Victoria Holt
Oh, what an oaf this man was. It was just her luck to be placed on a ship full of juveniles playing sailor. It was fairly obvious at this point that the ship was being raided by pirates. Seeing as this was Imperial space, the raiders were either reckless or foolhardy--probably both. Whatever it was, they were holding up her progress and that was intolerable.
She was of a mind to give that pirate captain a stern talking to. He wouldn't dare behave in such an impertinent manner in the future! The Empire guarenteed security to all civilian traffic in this sector, and here he was making a mockery of that promise. Oooh!
First, though, there was the matter of this timorous little officer.
"Calm down," Victoria pronounced sharply. "Stand at attention and bow your head in my presence, boy! Now, I require an armed escort. Assemble one, postehaste!"

[Location:Ship's bar.]
Verpine curses are downright foul, and right now, Farn was using the whole lexicon of them. Ever since he had finished the job they hired him for, the crew had locked him out of the engine room. Having been on more freighters, passenger liners, and all sorts of interstellar transports than he cared to think about, he had noticed several interesting features in the ship's propulsion systems, and had been attempting to get a closer look ever since.
Farn had been in the bar, thinking about sneaking down there again, when the jolting suddenly began. And now with the ship under attack, his chances at getting near the engines shot, and his drink in a slowly expanding pool on the countertop, cursing seemed like the appropriate thing to do.
The next best thing? Getting out of here. He had left his gun in his cabin, and his droid, probably the only way of finding out what was going on, was there too. And really, it just seemed a whole lot safer than staying out here. Somebody had left their drink on the bar when the attack began. Tough luck for them; Farn grabbed it and made for the door.
"Chzzzzz-(click)!" he shouted as the ship gave another jolt and he was thrown off-balance. The drink, fortunately, stayed upright, but Farn was taking no chances; with a swig he finished it off, then shouldered his way into the hallway.

In his nearby quarters, Vir very hastily went through his stuff. He weighed the blaster pistol in his hands.
Were they expecting boarders? Something like this was probably pirates and thieves. So they probably weren't going to blow them up outright. But if Vir looked armed, they might shoot him first and go on to loot the rich people.
He pondered. Running around openly with a weapon in front of nervous crewmembers could be bad. He'd be best off pretending to be unarmed and unarmored.
He looked around. Clothes could stay in the room. Did he have any other possessions worth taking with him? He wrapped the toolkit in the armor vest he had, and stuck the helmet in too, with the blaster in the helmet. A few other things - a bottle of rubbing alcohol, a towel, the first aid kit, the datapad...
Was he missing anything? Oh, right. The useless droid.
He shouldered the backpack. "I suppose you can come along," he said to his TS-Arach
Wandering out into the hallway, he stopped and stared at an alien he had never encountered before, on the ship or off. It was green, and its skin looked hard, and to Vir, it didn't smell like anything. Which was a welcome relief from the humans, who smelled nasty.
Behind him, the foot-tall droid raised itself up on two of its spidery legs and waved appendages at the...thing.

The ship is shaking and shuddering under the laser-cannon fire. Several alarms have sounded.
Madis enters the turbolift with three anxious-looking crewers in it. The doors open just outside the salon, not far from the bridge access hatch. Victoria Holt is standing next to another very nervous looking crewer, and an forth is running up the hall, wearing the uniform of a Senior academy cadet instead of the 2nd year version that most of the crew seem to have.
"Your escourt, s-si-Mahm!" His voice breaks again. The Deck officer, having regained his composure from the stern dressing down momments ago, snaps his heels together, bows his head, and waves with his right arm.
"What? You called me out of the turret for this? When the captain finds out, he'll have you roasted. This is a combat situation. I'm supposed to be protecting the ship by blowing up the enemy, not escourting some full-of-herself civilian with more clout and credits than sense. She can make her way to the imperial suite all by herself. No offence Ma'am."
Meanwhile, down in the bar:
Sloor has no problem stripping every last decoration from Lady Deptha's jewelry, including her room key. Lady Deptha has switched from tremblling and looking around in utter confusion to drinking straight from a bottle of Djanbi brandy. She is not alone in her choice of actions, as several patrons have lept over the bar to help themselves (with out worry of having the beverages charged to their suites). One solved the problem of insufficient room by simple heaving the bartender droid over the counter. Sloor notices a Verpine walking fairly calmly through the turmoil and chaos out of the lounge.
Elsewhere, in a bustling hallway:
L. Hydronium:
Your Verpine antenna pick up "Help! Drives damaged! Hull holed. Hyperdrive hit. Hurt. Only one in vacc-suit. Others... (gulp)," followed by a wimper. The only other Verpine you know of onboard is (Choke-pop)Shuzz. The only other source opperating on Verpine frequencies is the commlink in your R1.
There is an unfamiliar male mammalian humanoid in the hallway in front of you. Behind this is a small quadrapedal droid that looks vaguely familiar--you think you know of a different, much larger security patrol model.
The TS Arach, all .3meters tall of it, finds no record of 1.9M tall Verpine in the database of things to be killed. It seems to take the giant insect a few seconds to respond. Possiblly this is due to all the passengers still running arround like decapitated Jyomph-birds. A couple, at least, have taken the opportunity to grab bottles of Liquores from behind the autobar. Well, that should sedate them.
Yuul:
"Th-this is comms officer 3rd class Imson." Another voice that sounds all too young. "The Captain is a little busy right now giving orders and things. We're under attack by unknown fighters. They haven't identified themselves and don't have BoSS transponders for me to file. So far only the ventral turret, that's the one on the bottom, has anyone crewing it. I don't know why. Captain! We've lost both forward drives, and the Aft drives have taken several hits! Engine room alarms have are showing a hull breach! Um, Doc? Captain is cursing something fierce. Maybe you should get to the engine room to see if anyone down there is hurt?"
A woman enters sickbay. "Ahye thshink ahye mahy haffv bruised my finger..." she's wobbling around, appears very intoxicated, and falls over on of the other infirmiry beds in an undignified mess. "Ya-hoo reahhily ought to dyoo schumphing about the grave-ity in zhissh rume... Itszh not fitting for zhomeone in my schtate off... Dignity."

Salon level - Cetacean Princess
Lady Victoria Holt
Victoria arched an eyebrow and gave the uppity officer a baleful look. Then, almost incongruously, she smiles.
"I would worry more about having your family roasted, officer," Victoria says with silken condescension as she deliberately reads the officer's last name from his title plate.
She then began to harangue the officer. "For when the Palace learns that you deliberately neglected the well-being of an Imperial advisor, pirates are the least that your captain and this crew will have to worry about. Think about it for a moment: when have pirates ever killed the crew and passengers of a cruise liner? That's right, never. But what have they done with government representatives? Do you think it will look good on the captain to have anything happen to me? Or rather, will it look good on you? I am entirely certain that he will pass off the responsibility to you, and you'll be standing there with your hands empty when the inevitable inquest comes in. No, officer, you should not be that stupid. You can fulfill your obligation to the captain's orders by returning to the gun turrent, but assign some of these flunkies to escort me back to my suite. The quicker they do so, the quicker you'll have them back, and you do need to make sure I get back to the suite safely--my well-being, my good man, is entirely in your hands. So I ask you again: assign me an escort."
She half turned to walk away, but then looked back at the officer with a glimmer in her eye. "Oh, and I would make certain to keep those comments about civilians with more clout and credits than sense to yourself--it would be a terrific shame if such seditious words made their way back to the COMPNOR field office," she mentioned very sweetly, "ta now!"

Koohii:"understood." Yuul replied, at least so far its onll fighters, but they had to come from somewhere...
As Yuul began to gather his medical equipment together, a groan reminded him of the noble's plight. Thinking quickly, he grabbed a bottle of medicine, filled an injector and injected the woman with the substance. There, he thought that should help her for the time being. Yuul picked up his equipment again and hurried to the engine room occasionally having to shove his way through knotted clusters of people.

OOC: Blah, this is what happens when you write posts while hurrying before class.
I was also going to make an allusion to Grand Admiral Teshik's fate after the privateer Far Orbit captured an Imperial advisor as an example of what happens when people let those kind of things happen. Alluding to well-known individuals and their exempla is a critical part of classical oratory and rhetoric.
You can choose to pretend it's there or not, either way I suppose the dice roll is more important.

Farn didn't like the look of that droid or its owner. But they didn't seem like a threat for the moment, and from what he had just heard, that was the least of his concerns. The situation sounded dire, but from here, he didn't see what he could do.
What he needed was more information. Farn hustled over to the nearest computer terminal to see if he could access the security systems to possibly find (Choke-pop)Shuzz and get a better picture of how bad the situation was.

"Do you work here?"
Farn froze for a second, worried that a crew member had spotted him. He assumed they wouldn't take too kindly to him hacking the ship's systems, no matter what his intent. Glancing over at the newcomer, he relaxed, realizing it was just another passenger. Not that it really matter what...whatever this thing was thought, but it would probably be a good idea to get him away before he called any more attention to Farn.
"Ship's technician," Farn said, still working. "Can you please get to your cabin? You might have noticed we're in the middle of an emergency."
Con: 1+4+1=6
Waiting for the creature to respond, Farn wracked his brain for anything he knew about this species.

Koohii posted: Sloor notices a Verpine walking fairly calmly through the turmoil and chaos out of the lounge.
"Well, there's a chap who seems to be on top of things. Probably one of the ship's technicians." Sloor thinks. "I've probably pushed my luck enough around here. Time to make off with my earnings, it should more than pay for this useless trip. Now off to find what's actually going on, what's the use of gaining if you don't live to enjoy it? And if things are really dire, I might come back to join these loosers in drinking myself numb."
Sloor follows the Verpine, trying to figure out what the situation is, and whether he should relax, act to save his skin or simply despair. He'll stay at a distance, trying to eavesdrop on any useful info.

Yuul:
Yuul injects the woman with a detoxicant, knowing that in about 5 minutes she will shift from dibilitatingly intoxicated to dibilitatingly hung over. All those brain cells she'll never see again...
Oh well...
Just outside the engine room, Yuul finds three engineers lying in the hall. One of them has obvious burns. Another appears to be missing an arm from just below the shoulder--a vaccsuit sealant has been applied, but it is rapidly beginning to seep. All three are showing signs of exposure to vaccuum.
Farn:
Farn isn't sure what to make of the creature beside him--it is totally outside his ken. The computer, on the other hand, is offering a wealth of information. So far, only one of the four turrets on this ship is crewed and firing at the six attacking vessels. Orders are being entered and cancelled from the bridge and re-entered or changed in rapid succession. Sublight speed has been cut in half from damage sustained. There is a loss in atmospheric pressure in the engine room. Ah, the top turret is now starting to operate. The hyperdrive is registering as non-operational.
Vir:
Well, the giant bug has obviously just lied to you about something. On the other hand, it clearly has complete access to the computer, so maybe it's trying to keep passengers from panicking the way ship's crew are supposed to.
Sloor:
The Verpine is accessing a computer terminal. Sometime when it was just out of view, it was confronted by a slightly shorter unfamiliar humanoid type who has thus-far not shown any conspicuous signs of wealth. It is followed by a small four-legged droid. The Verpine rather unconvincingly claimed to be a crew member.
Down the Hall:
All three of you hear blaster fire.
Top Deck:
The senior cadet looks like he's about to say something, then bites back a retort. With an elaborate flourishing bow, sweeping one arm so that his hand passes withing a centimeter of the deck, he gestures toward the elevator. "Right this way, Madam, if you please. You three, be sure the lady arrives safely in her suite. Forgive me, ma'am for not joining you. I'm affraid I must see to safeguarding the lives of all passengers and crew from the upper turret." He backs away slowly, remaining bowed over, until out of sight, when you are able to suddenly hear the sound of his boots running down the hall.
The two crewers from the turbo lift and the deck officer form a triangle formation arround Ms Holt. "May we esCOurt you to your cabin, Lady?"
Madis:
The senior cadet was seething with anger during his performance, and working very hard to bite back a rebuttal. Judging from that bow, he is very familiar with court etiquette--it was perfectly executed, if not propperly motivated.
The other cadet crewers are somewhat less confident in themselves, but seem to be doing their best in unfamiliar circumstances.
All: The ship continutes to shake under laser-cannon fire.
///GAJ: I have no problem with rewriting history to include the extra details in the speech. It's one of the fun little things in life that makes all the difference.

Vir snarls at the clearly perfidous insectoid, but is distracted by the blaster fire. He looks down the hall to see if he sees anything, and then looks for a doorway or cross-passage to hide in, particularly if enemies are coming their way. If there's a convenient place, he'll hide.
