In a move a bit like Force Unleashed, I'm having our D20 Inquisitor transformed into Darth Vader's Sith apprentice. He will be secretly doing missions for Vader as the Dark Lord prepares to overthrow Palpatine in the Empire Strikes Back era. All the whole as vader intends to eventually replace him with Luke.

Any suggestions for RPGing Vader's teachings and the like.

Yeah, that works great. I'll remember those.

I'm also thinking of stuff Vader might want his minion to do and enemies to take care of while the other player characters are doing their usual stuff.

hmm, well depending on how big a threat your heroes are they may not be the aprentices initial target, maybe just have them cross paths with the PCs just getting in the way and angering said apprentice.

Ummmm, just as a note, the PC is the Sith apprentice.

:-)

It's an Empire game.

ah ok I'm sorry i got that mixed up, but as for missions...
You could do a couple of jedi hunting missions and maybe some form of a stealth/assasin mission sort of like a star wars splinter cell. other then that maybe being sent on a mission to recover some powerful sith artifact. You may even be able to have the PC lead a strike on a rebel base and through a bit of strategy/combat mix.

Good cop bad cop

Has Sith written all over it. Let them think that (behind Vader's back) he's gleaming some insights or is close to harnessing some powerful 'thing' (power/artifact/intel), only for Vader to smack him down. Then with other things, have Vader fake some of his 'human side' to the apprentice.

In other words, be completely erratic, it'll scare the bejesus out of player and character.

Send him to infiltrate the Rebel Alliance to find out the name of the pilots who survived the Battle of Yavin. He is then to go through individual missions to track them down and kill them.

Infiltrate the rebelion on Raltier. Find out that happened to some very important information that was stolen from an imperial convoy near there yesterday.

Vader has undoubtedly ended up disappointed with previous students who failed their missions and had enough brains not to come back. Track them down and kill them. Or offer them a chance to return, forgiven for their failures... and then kill them on the spot if they refuse, and in Vader's presence if they accept. "You are weak. You should have known better than to expect mercy from me!" Each of these failed students is probablly power-mad and/or greedy in his/her own way, or they wouldn't have petitioned & been accepted as students in the first place. They've probablly set up or gone to work for local politicians or crime lords (or both) and started training minions of their own to act as their servants and lackeys, not necessarily to be effective (probablly only a D/level or two), but just to make the failed Vader-student feel more powerful. While they won't have advanced as Jedi/Sith since leaving Vader's service, they may have other skills/contacts/resources to make taking them down more challenging than first anticipated. They won't be powerful enough to actually inconvenience Vader, but he isn't one for leaving loose ends... Well, not many...

I really like that Koohii.

BTW, here's what I've got so far...

* Vader sets the player character against High Inqusitor Tremayne. Basically, competing for the top spot. Ultimately, the two will have to duel to the death with the winner becoming Apprentice to the Apprentice.

* His official title will be the "Hand of Vader"

* The PC will be granted use of the Devastator Star destroyer.

* Hethrir will try and undermine/sabotage his plans.

* Vader will teach the player character Djem So lightsaber combat. Emphasizing the power of dominating your opponent through physical force.

* Vader encourages his student to develop a costume and/or armor to intimidate opponents underneath him.

* Vader will inform them that he intends to create a "pure" military ruled structure of the Empire with him as Emperor and the player character as his Shogun.

* Vader will train the PC on Vjun in Bast Castle.

* Shira Brie and the PC will probably have an affair before she goes off to be horrifically injured trying to seduce Luke Skywalker.

* Vader will use the PCs against TaggeCo. and Black Sun.

Have the players gamed with you before? In a similar or previous era? Might it not be fun to have PCs from that campaign show up, trying to thwart the current party's efforts, either by being directly opposed, or as competition for the same goals?

You might see if you can find a copy of Big Finish's Dr Who story: The Dark Flame. It could be adapted as a nice "recover the sith artifact" story. (You can buy it from Big Finish directly for ~$23 if you're willing to wait several weeks for shipping, or find it on eBay for about the same price new (less used).)

Use PCs from your collection of previous gaming. Always fun, and can save on prep-time.
