>>> I just know they BETTER release KOTOR 2 and make 3.<<<
This is only affecting internal development. Not games which are being outsourced. KOTOR II is in no danger of being canceled since the Lucas Arts dev team is not working on it.

Hmmm... I wonder if there is any connection between the surprising early release date of KotOR II and these internal troubles at Lucas Arts?

Starwars Battlegrounds is basically BF 1942 with stormtrooopers.
Battlefront is Battlefield 1942 with stormtroopers.
Battlegrounds is Age of Empires II with stormtroopers.
But Battlegrounds does have a following. My best friend still loves that game.

Alright, this is going to sound really stupid. If LA gets any worse, are they going to stop selling older games on their site? I still need to get a copy of Monkey Island.

While there's still stock to be sold, Monkey Island will be available on the LucasArts company store.
But who knows if they'll manufacture more when they've sold out???

Jump to Lightspeed (Developed by SOE, or am I mistaken?) and Republic Commando will surely be released. The ROTS and LEGO games are moved out-of-house, and Battlefront is nearly out in stores. What exactly is cancelled?

It's a good point that the downsizing of LA isn't necessarily a catastrophic thing in itself (and it's good in that it suggests the days of flooding the market with product may be coming to an end), but the most important issue to me is the fact that they've been relentlessly losing or sacking proven talents for a good long while, and this downsizing just seems to be continuing that trend.
LA's former greatness was due to the fact they were staffed with large numbers of extraordinarily talented people, and now nearly all of those talented people are gone. Stripping down the development branch of the company is only really a positive move if the remaining developers are are extremely talented individuals, and I'm not convinced that's the case.
On that note, I really should look into exactly who is still working with the development studio - that might give a good impression of the direction they're planning to head.
I suppose the best policy would be to hope for the best but expect the worst.

Galaxies is and remains at least partially an in-house development. Te LEGO game was always out-of-house. ROTS has been outsourced to The Collective. Battlefront is out-of-house and always has been (Pandemic). Republic Commando is the only fully internal title that remains.
The cancelled games were unannounced (ie KOTOR3, maybe Imperial Commando etc and no doubt several more besides).
The 'shock' is that they've cancelled all internal development and effectively become a publishing company. However, something needed to be done internally. A fresh start if you will, concentrating on quality rather than quantity. Let's just hope this actually happens...

I'd long been keeping various appendagia crossed for the off chance we'd be seeing a third and final Starfighter entry that would close out Adi Gallia's story and segueway into the Jedi Purge. Something entitled "Imperial Starfighter" -- or even "Rebel Starfighter." (Throwing Rhys Dallows in as one of the Rebellion's early fighter pilots, while they're at it.)
But alas, it might not be meant to happen.

Well, KotOR 3 is dead, long live the KotOR franchise.
From gamespy:
LucasArts President Confirms Layoffs
Further rumors state that early development of KOTOR 3 has ceased, and LucasArts recently announced that Star Wars Episode III has been oursourced to The Collective, previously known for titles such as LucasArts' Indiana Jones and Wrath Unleashed, or Vivendi's Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
*decides not to write anything further because it would violate the ToA.*

Well, actually the internal pre-production of KOTOR3 is over, but as the 1 & 2 were developed externally, I doubt it means this highly successful and critically acclaimed series is all over.

And that's a bad thing? The Indy and Buffy Games were fantastic! Much better than a lot of the SW games Lucas arts made.
The Star Wars License makes too much money for anyone to think things like KOTOR3 or more Jedi Knight games wont get made. The games will still get made. Just not By LA.

Sad, but not surprising.
I have to agree that something happened to Lucasarts after Ep 1. I remember playing the "Phantom Menace" adventure game (so called) and thinking "Lucasarts did this???? This is the kind of crap the gives Games based on movies a bad name...the kind of crap that Lucas Arts had avoided in the past".Not that Lucasarts had not had it's dissapointments, but nothing like this.
And since then it has been downhill as far as in house games has been concerned all the way. All the good stuff has been by outside developers. And Lucasarts managed to drive away Totally, one of their best devlopers, and hence for five years we have had no new X wing games, despite overwhelming fan demand.
And They want to revive the Indy games....well, for a start, they can do something with some originality, something as much fun as "Fate of Atlantis " was rather the second rate "Tomb Raider" that "Infernal Machine" was. When a imitation of your product is better then what you are putting out, you got problems....

Last year's revival of the classic "Secret Weapons" WW2 flight combat 'sim' series was done with Totally Games.
Though I agree with much of what you say.
