So is the Orange Box not worth getting if I don't have Xbox Live?

Oh it's worth getting, alright. The only game you need Live for is Team Fortress, everything else is single player.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback guys. I probably should have explained my current situation. I already own an Xbox 360 and a Wii tongue Yeah, I'm a console freak, but hey, why the hell not right?

My main concern was whether it was worth buying without a HD capable TV. I'm still going to wait a little while longer until the games I'm interested in are released. Right now there isn't all that much to make such a high price point worth a purchase, although Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank do hold my attention.

I'd say go with the HDTV now (playing games like Gears of War and, overrated as it is, BioShock in HD = shock ), and then the PS3 next year. By then, maybe they'll have been another price drop, and it'll have a better library.

Unless you want to wait until these suckers are affordable. I can live with standard until that.

HD is very nice - though I'd have to disagree with Reynar about Bioshock. I guess when it comes to gaming, we just don't agree on much.

Thanks guys.

I think I'll go for the Orange Box, but I will have to see what's available in sales and pre-owned. Price is a big thing for me at the moment.

Make sure you check online stores too. I use Half a lot and get some great deals there. You might want to check Buy.com too.

I don't mean to sound stupid, but how do you play PS2 games online?

Well, it doesn't work with every game, but there are a few that have online play. Final Fantasy XI w/hard drive add-on - doesn't work on Slim PS2 - Battlefront II, some of the SOCOMs, a few others. Then it's simply a matter of plugging your PS2 to the network and playing. Each game has it's own online system, nothing integrated like XBox Live.

Hey there; quick question over here.

I own a GameCube which, as a casual gamer, is sufficient enough for my needs. I was running around the GameStop website the other day when I noticed that a used copy of Rogue Squadron II was on sale for something like $6.00.

My question is: should I buy the game or should I just shell out the $15.00 for a used copy of Rogue Squadron III?

Personally I like Rogue Squadron II better. Rogue Squadron III is ok, and it does have the unlockable Star Wars arcade games (from the 80's), but it also adds a bunch of poorly-executed on-foot missions which are tedious at best and downright torturous at worst. Rogue Squadron II is star fighter shooting from start to finish, and if it's $9 less, that's what I would grab.
