I went with Infiltrator for my first play through - I just love the sniper rifle and tech abilities. Combat needs to be a bit more tactical however, I've quickly learnt I can't just run into combat like I could always do in KOTOR.

My squad usually includes Ashley and Tali/Garrus. Everytime I use Wrex he's always the first to die, I don't know if he just sucks or I'm doing something wrong but he just becomes a burden most of the time.

I don't know what class I'd play through next, I'd like to try through all of them. But six full games might get a bit boring. thinking

Give Wrex the tree with Immunity and the Krogan Battlemaster line--even without shields, he'll absorb a lot of damage and regenerate. With shields, he'll stand up even longer. I then generally hooked him up with throw and shotguns, and he took out pretty much everyone. He and Liara were my main partners on my Infiltrator playthrough.

Mass Effect is everything I hoped it would be and more. happy

That said, I went with soldier but I wish I'd gone with vanguard...the biotics look so cool. I'm using Liara and Kaiden right now.

You get an Achievement for getting pu**y. Awesome.

Although that's one case where the character creation system is almost TOO good. It feels kinda slashfic watching my dead-ringer roll around bare-assed with some alien chick.

Spoiler swipe:

Can you play the game in a way where Wrex doesn't die? I'm guessing when Kaiden dies, it's either him or Ashley that you choose, but I don't see how Wrex sticks around. But then again, I've been playing the planets REALLY out of order, so maybe my Charm would've been high enough by then, or something.

Which characters would you say are almost always in your squad? Or, do you rotate them into the squad equally?

I always had Ashley with me, and would usually alternate between Garrus and Kaiden until he died on Virmire, then I just took Garrus. Occasionally I'd take Wrex, and I never took Tali. I had Liara with me on Noveria and that was it.

But yeah, always had Ashley with me.

That was the case for me too until the end where I had Wrex in my third slot for the extra firepower and biotics.

I just beat it as a Paragon Vanguard with maxed out charm and was able to talk Wrex down. He never likes it, but he remained in my party until the end of the game.

I was able to do that as well. I talked him down pretty easy with Charm. My question is, is it possible to keep both Kaiden and Ashley alive? I don't recall, but was there an option to send those Salarians into battle by themselves, or were you forced to send one or the other?

I didn't want to send either because they were the core of my ground team, but I had to send one of them. I resisted as long as I could, but eventually the only dialogue options were sending Kaiden or Ashley.

I also talked Wrex down, which was good because for me he was pretty powerful. Some of the Krogan armor you could buy was really awesome.

The identity of the Commander Shepard mo-cap model...revealed at last. (Sam Witwer, he ain't.)

It's gotten way easier to make bank later in the game; you gotta sell the random crap you come across. I had about 500,000 credits' worth of swag just from Feros alone. I found out when you beat it, you can start the game over with the same character, with all his/her abilities and levels. I guess this means you can keep your money, too. Probably the only way you can possibly buy all that **** in the Citadel.

Remember what I said earlier about how awesome the Codex is? Slight (VERY slight) qualification to that statement:

I really wish there had been a way to work some of the Codex material directly into the gameplay proper. It breaks the immersion when you're attacked by some strange creature, only to be able to go to the Codex and learn every single last detail about it. Great from a fan/continuity-guru standpoint, but the spoilers should've been parceled out a bit more piecemeal early on.

The first time you spot the Geth husks is really creepy, and you have no idea what the **** is happening, and then the Codex comes along and spells everything out for you. That would have been a nifty little mystery to have to solve, and a chance for a nice dramatic moment...these creatures you've been indiscriminately fragging may have been someone you knew. (Nota bene for the sequel, BioWare.)

The game truly hits its apotheosis on Ilos. I won't be the first nor the last person to say this, but Mass Effect's writing and storytelling sets a MAJORLY high hurdle for future SF-themed games to clear. Other companies are going to have to work to measure up to what we've just seen in this title. Knights of the Old Republic cooked like a bastard for a very good reason, and we've seen it again here.

My earlier comparison to Babylon 5 and Galactica still stands, in spades. What's hinted at coming in the next two games by this one's ending is likely to make the first game look like donkey-droppings in comparison. (Humanity just got made in this game, taking over rulership of the universe, but the Reapers are confirmedly on the way. And the other Council races need to get their **** together quick. Otherwise, everyone's massively ****ed on an interstellar scale.) And there are still two more to go, plus the novels and the downloadable content set in between the games themselves. Bring it on.

Hats off to Mr. Karpyshyn and his staff. Next time I see you in a bar, shots are on me.

Reportedly, you can talk Saren into shooting himself in the head if your Charm and/or Intimidate is high enough.

...Or so I hear.

You can and I had no idea it was in the game so it was awesome. I was geared up for this massive boss fight...and he shoots himself in the head. I mean, I still fought Sovereign-possessed Saren, but it was still awesome.

I did the same thing, and realized just how massive the payoff was for all those Charm points I dumped into my character. Getting him to do it himself made the story that much better, and is a pretty awesome plot point when you think about it.

Let's also discuss one of the major "pros" of this game:

LANCE-****ING-HENRIKSEN.

Also, did anyone else go to the Citadel and interview with that one woman in C-sec? I was being all nice to her, and finally got sick of her questions and chose the one option "Shut her up," and my guy ****ing punches her in the face. Hilarious.

I can't wait to go back and play the game as a renegade. I'm 18 hours and 23 minutes into my first playthrough as a paragon, and I am loving every minute of it.
