I know a lot of people have said this, but it needs a Coruscant Streets level. I'm thinking more like the Clone Wars Cartoons (large armies working theor way across walkways on many different levels) then AotC. I would want it to be huge, and not all on one plane. You cross the bridge,but to get to the next command post, you have to fight your way up several levels of stairwell, and then cross another bridge higer up. It could also be snipers galore! Think of all the small rooms you could put in buildings looking over the main battlefield (bridges & walkways). Also if they wante do makeit really big, it could include the Jedi Temple and especialy the Senate, which would be quite a distance to walk, so you could also hop on to a civilian speeder parked next to the walkway, and fly where ever you want, and maybe even have a passenger seat for another unit to fire from (a la Halo).
This of corse would require the number of units on at one time to be jacked up to 32 or 64, since a map this large would spread out the 16 units a lot.
Also, as people have said, bring back Geonosis from BFI, Rhen Var Harbor and Bespin (platforms definitely, maybe streets as well).
Also the space engine could really use some work. Firstly make the fighters be what they are supposed to be (ie having ARC-170s be bombars). Second get rid of the debris; it's just annoying. Third, make it faster, more intense. Or in other words, you once again need more units on each side. The space battles seem to be pretty slow paced and that is partialy due to the lack of fighters filling up the screen. Fourth make the capital ships be more then just a base of opperations. They should be moveable. They should be able to broadside each other. The frigate escorts should be engaging each other. Starfighters shouldn't be what takes out a capital ship, they should just be what gives their capital ship the upper hand in the battle (ie taking out shields etc.) And finaly, if you're going to be able to land in enemy ships, at least put somewhere to go. Make it a real ship. Go down one hallway, and take control of one of the enemy turbolasers, and shoot down enemy fighters from their own ship. Go up the hallway, and enter the bridge, and if you're able to capture it, fly the thing! If you are able to capture the entire ship (should have several CPs), you can also win the space battle.
EDIT: How would adding EU "crap" make it worse. One of the best maps in BFI was Rhen Var which is EU "crap," and even someone who doesn't really like the EU has said that it was one of the best maps.
While I think the majority of the game should be movie battles, I don't think EU battles would hurt it. Maybe something like the Rebels taking Coruscant.
If you would stop labling it "EU crap" for a moment and just try to play it for fun, you might end up liking it.

Some people have disagreed with the machine guns. I know in sw they didn't exist, but I certainly have fun with them. If they were to be taken out, at least let the clone commander keep his chaingun. Oh, and if Kit Fisto isn't in the game, how come he's on the cover?

Kit Fisto is in the expansion pack (although I haven't got it yet) with Asajj Ventress and the extra maps for the XBOX version. If they make a third Battlefront, Kit Fisto should be a playable hero.

And actually the maps are Ren Var: Harbor, Bespin: Cloud City, and Yavin IV: Arena (my least favorite).

Yavin IV: Arena is Heaven compared to Yavin IV: Temple, IMHO
And I agree with the guy who said to stop being so anti-EU. I love EU (most of it), and I'm not saying the game should stop being centrally Saga-oriented, but I think some of the best maps in the original were EU or at least parts of the Saga planets that happened to be "just off-camera", like Rhen Var or Bespin: Platforms (If only the Imperials didn't have terrible vehicle AI that prevents them from shooting down Rebels or landing at the Rebels' rear control points , but the imbalance is what I love about the first BF)
I would love to see more EU maps, like EaW had. It had a galaxy full of EU maps, and it never felt like I was playing anything other than Star Wars.

What was included in the XBOX expansion pack shouls really be in the third Battlefront. As well as my thought of Luke Skywalker having a harpoon gun on the Hoth Level and him being able to follow the same technique from Rogue Squadron: Rebel Strike and The Empire Strikes Back. As in how he took down an AT-AT walker.

I like the Temple. The Arena is so annoying. If I'm not a marksman in the arena area where the CP is I automatically loose. My favorite has to be the updated Kashyyk. Oh, and another download for BF 2 is a new Hero Free-for-All level. The new and improved Kashyyk.
