Do you have any links? I assume that only works for PC, there is no way for PS2 users to get in on that.

I don't agree with Draco on going heavy into the EU...I think you will start to lose people because it will lose it's star wars feel...you have to remember only the hard core SW gamers (liek amny of the people on this site) know the EU...fact is the majority of the people are buying this game because they grew up with the one of the two trilogies and have never read a star wars book or comic. I think LA riskes losing the average star wars fan if they go too deep in the EU.....it will dilute it's star wars feel for the average fan. CW cartoon series is one thing, but EU isn't canon, and the average gamer who digs Sw cuz of the movies will just think LA is reaching for new material.

It may not be a bad idea for LA to come out with a total seperate BF based on the EU like the Vong wars or early republic days, but I think EU should be minimized in BF3. Just my opinion.....

1. A MAJOR IMPORTANCE: Blend the benefits of BATTLEFRONT I with BATTLEFRONT II. You gave up at least 16 spawns on the field, or more, to get the gains of BATTLEFRONT II. The results kills some of the big open levels. And combined with heroes, team work and 'bonuses', it makes BF2 too easy. I rarely find myself desperately fighting to the wire - but in BF1, events could go against you and before you knew you were in a desperate fight even on levels you had won easily in the past. You weakened the Droidekas way too much - I liked the older ones better, even if they drove me nuts. The vehicles on the ground battles - both land and air - seemed to be better balanced and more interesting. They actually made a difference in a battle.

Also, the higher spawn rates on BF1 actually created real battlefield type scenarios - with mini squads of troops flowing in unison creating fronts and "battlefield bulges". Geonosis on BF1 is a beautiful thing really, a huge major droid assualt down the western end of the battlefield to take the Derelict. A wide variety of strategies could be brought in to make it 'real.' New Geonosis is just a slugfest in the middle, with no real rhyme to it.

I recognize that the limits of the console forced this change. And it probably isn't a big deal for online play. Yet in BF1, I still can play (and I've played near every day for a year) and end up in a real scrap to pull out a win - THAT IS FUN. The levels that work the best on BATTLEFRONT II are all in tighter and more contained environments to compensate for the spawn reduction. They work fairly well - but again I find myself 'holding back.' So for the future BATTLEFRONT III, match the next generation abilities; bring in all the classes, weapons, heroes, bonuses, sound and brilliant dialogue mixes of BATTLEFRONT II but bump up the spawn count to something crazy, improve vehicles and open up the larger environments like in BATTLEFRONT I.

2. Improve Space Combat. At least make it feel closer to JEDI STARFIGHTER. It's fine now - just work out the kinks.

3. Balance out the Prequel and Original music, environments, etc. BF2 is REVENGE OF THE SITH heavy. And please NO EU. I can't think of anything you could do which would kill it faster. I wouldn't buy it ever, and I've bought every release opening day -

4. A very minor thing. I give the current game a 90%, but just flush out the continuity 100%: ie. Endor Space has Death Star, Yavin Space has Yavin, Hero themes are more better matched such as Throne Room for Emperor (though some are really good), either more heroes to the level or a better fit, and just in general - Vader's Force Choke should be default, Yoda should have Force Throw, Maul should default to Force Push, etc; Greivous should have the Greivous theme song, use actual dialogue from the movies, etc It doesn't take much - just attention and someone who loves the movies.

5. Revisit the same planets - but for goodness sake, please tweak the maps a little more. Be creative.

Other than that - just keep doing what you're doing. Awesome set of games - really - easily the best LucasArts games in a decade.

Maybe I am alone in this, but do you think maybe they should just release a battlefront Space Edition so they can concentrate on just space battles instead of biting off too much in BF3?

Really get in depth, have a full fledged Death Star space map, with rebels spawning from Yavin and Emp from DS hangars, rebels have to run the trench and hit the exhaust port while landing parties board the station to take out the tracotor beams and rescue the priucess, Emp has to defend and try to land troops on Yavin to take out a shield generator or something in preparation for firing the main DS planet killing laser. You could do the same thing with Endor DS space, but all the fighters based at the opposing fleets.

A dedicated space version could give them the room on one disk to really go all out with spawn counts and graphics since they don't have to focus so much on the infantry battles taking up memory.

Note: Especially the graphics, one major disappointment to me on BF2 was the space graphics espcially where the destroyers are concerned, they don't look like they put hardly any time in on the graphics of the escort ships, the graphics are just too blocky looking if that makes sense.

Actually - that's a really really good idea. I would buy it. I wouldn't want it at the expense of a land BF3 - but if they did them a year apart. That would be great.

You could do a lot. Heck - just enlarging the interior of the capital ships and maybe adding a few more ships in the arena would improve it a lot. The debris is a useless waste of space in my opinion. More ships. Turn the capital ships into arenas all their own. You've got yourself one heckuva game.

They also wouldn't have to worry about cross-functional control systems.

EDIT ADDING: Going ground to space really isn't that big a deal for me. What's the big deal, I don't have to load. It just isn't appealling. I'd rather see factions spread farther apart with many many more spawns and neutral CPS in the middle of very big arenas... creating a real battlefront.

1. Ships on ground maps, said it before and I will say it until I am blue in the face....strafing and bombing are why I got so into BF1. Bombing on Platorms and Islands wiih the Y-Wing, strafing with the Vulture...nothing is more fun! there weren't enough maps like that in BF1, so what do they do, they elimintated them all together cuz some noobs cryied about getting owned!
2. More maps, bring back both Bespins, and Rhen Vars, add Cato Nemodia, Selucami, Senate, Coroscaunt space battle!
3. Rework Kayshyyk, needs to be much larger with Driod Gunships and Wookie Catamarans and Ornithopters, it needs to be more of a island vs island battle, no connecting land piece, with landed cruisers at each end as bases for aircraft. Basically, needs to be a beach assault type map, more naval and aerial than infantry based.
4. Geonosis arena is a must, new Geonosis needs to be scrapped, old on was much more like the movie, just needed to be bigger and Geo without Beak wings and Rep Gunshipss is just wrong! Multiple AT-TE's and both large and small spider droids.
5. Lose Yavin, or just start over and try something new, this same one was never good IMO and it is old now.

8. Tatoonie/Mose Eilsy should be a mix of the first 2 from BF1, Mos eisly city surrounded by desert and of course fighters to fly in.

11. Mygeeto should be more of a night time map, walkers instead of the stupid made up combat speeders that totally took over the vehicles for BF2. Speeders should be useed sparingly when you have to fill in the gaps the movies left with certain maps.
12. Loose Theed, rework it so that it is a mix of Theed, Palace and plains, like have a hangar and a waterfall like in the movie over looking a plain were you could have and open ground tank infantry air support battle. It should really be an assault the city type of map.

Those are some good map ideas - with the exception of Mygeeto being night and Kashyyyk not being infantry, I agree with all of it. The ideas for Naboo and Mos Eisley are right on the money. I'd really like to see these big open enviromments connected with tighter more constrained (buildings, ships, space station) hallways, alleys and rooms. I've been thinking the same.

I'd add. Fix Endor - the first version wasn't great, but the second is so easy and boring it is ridiculous. Kamino, what happened? Add more neutral CPs or bump up the spawns? Keep Tantive IV, it's brilliant! The Death Star needs reworking desperately. The prison cell and corridor should be at the far end of th map - very far from the hangars, more corridors like the ones around the hangars with drop offs, bridges, rooms, and tractor beam in between the two.

I think Geonosis V1.0 (from BF1) is a fairly good model. Environment based objectives (Techno Union ships), air Support, massive and numerous ground vehicles, very wide and long arena that allows for realistic troop movements under high spawn counts. Place that engine into a BF2 "skin" (for lack of a better word) and bump up the spawn count (64 is insane) but even 32 per faction - and you've got one crazy insanely maddening battlefield. The kind of battlefield that needs a hero...

See...Mygeeto at night seems like a no brainer since the only time we see it in the movie it looks pretty much like night or atleast dusk, plus it needs the falling ash!

Kayshyyk, what can I say, currently it blows, I liked Docks much better! It's too small and I don't like that mid range spawn point on the side connecting the two sides, needs to be more like Docks where the droids spawn at the island, except this time the republic spawns at the base of a landed Rep Cruiser like in the movie.....plus I want my Turbo tank! It needs the two elevated platfroms like Docks, that matches what the setting looked like in the movie...the current version is just a weak map they slapped together as quickly as possible without even looking at the movie!

Desperately needs air power, that was intergral into the battle seen in ROTS. Republic should get Wookie catamarans, AT-RTs and either Turbo tanks or those three legged walkers in the movie, Seps get Tank droids Homing Spiders and Driod gunships!

I guess I should have made this clear. When I say that BF3 should expand into EU thats what I meant, they should expand into EU. I'm not saying that they should do away with all of the previous PT/OT maps. With the sheer size of the PS3 BD-DVD and the 360 HD-DVD formats, there should be enough space on the game to bring back some of the popular maps from BF1 and BF2. So the PT and OT could still be represented in the game, thus preventing LucasArts from Alienating themselves from the casual Star Wars fanbase all while at the same time feeding to the needs of the hardcore fanbase such as ourselves by going into the 20 year gap of EP3-EP4.

This way they satisfy the hardcore fans by giving us more to explore while at the same time satisfying the Star Wars purist and casual fans by keeping in all of the OT/PT content. I'm not saying the game has to be 100% EU, but having a game that is 100% PT/OT does become cliche. Which is why the Rogue Leader/Rogue Squadron games hasn't been as popular as they were back in the late 90s. Some of the more interesting SW games to date such as KOTOR and Jedi Outcast are all games that ventured off a bit into EU. Jedi Academy was EU but still have that OT atmosphere to it while KOTOR was EU to the extreme. Empire at War is taking this chance by focusing on EU. We shall see how the success (Review Scores/Sales Figures) of that game goes.

Look at it as being able to have the cake and eat it at the same time.

I get where you are coming from.......but the way I look at it, we have to be realistic. PS3 and the 360 are a jump in memory and power, but they still aren't a PC, we have prioritize what we want, if you start adding EU content, that is going to take away from other aspects of the game, be time available to the devlopers or memory. I would prefer they just took the best from 1 and 2 and made 3 a kick A game, not try to expand on a storyline, this game is about recreating battles, single player storyline and EU is secondary IMO. Take the experiecne from the first two games and make bf3 what the first 2 should have been. I don't think they should waste time with the EU, all it will do is distract them from actually improving the game itself.

Point Made, however, look at the Rogue Squadron/Rogue Leader games as an example. They were popular especially back in the late 90s. Probably the Battlefront of its era. Factor 5 was doing the same thing that you say should be done with BF3. All they did was recreate the battles of the movies with a touch of EU here and there. At first it was reasonable, but after a long time, people got tired of running through the Death Star trenches, Battle of Hoth, Battle of Endor etc etc etc. Rebel Strike didn't do much to expand on the storyline and look at the results.

In other words, what you say probably will work for BF3, I'm not denying that. However, if there is a BF4 and possibly even a BF5, do you think that Pandemic/LucasArts can hold peoples interest if in BF4 I'm STILL doing the same stuff I did in BF1/BF2/BF3? It gets old and the Rogue Squadron games proves this.

However I'm getting off topic. This is about BF3, not BF4/BF5. What you say is true and BF3 will be fine even without EU because people (Including myself) will just be so excited to be even playing a Battlefront game with better graphics and a few new nick nacks and gimmicks. Your point is clear. happy (And no, I'm not being Sarcastic)

The only thing I want out of Battlefront 3 is for not to come out for about 5 years when one can obtain a one of the new consoles for $100 or less.

For space battles, they should really consider making the boarding of ships much more exciting, I want to live the boarding that happened in the clone wars cartoon series! Make Cships destructable, along with them being able to be boarded so the enemy cant spawn there, space battles overall should be reworked.

and I totally agree with you about further sequels involving the EU, they will have to or it will get boring....I just want them to get it right before they delve into the EU...cuz honestly, I don't know EU that much...so I am rather baised! : )

That...and I was on the board for the build up to BF2...and I don't want to be disappointed the way Iwa s with BF2. Don't get me wrong, still play it every night, but it could shoulda woulda...yadda yadda yadda...fact is when it comes to vids...you can wish your self insane with all the things you think they should include, and it is easy to forget developers have their limts, espcially when designing game for a console.

Gawd......a map editor would be cool though...then you could fix maps like Kayshyyk yourself and not worry about LA screwing it up!

Thats why I am saying there should be a dedicated game to space battles, so they can add more infantry stuff to the space battles, while still being space battles.....Fact is, BF2 is the only online game you can dogfight in atleast for the PS2, that I know of. A dedicated space online space combat game based on SW I think would clean up, atleast until the makers of ACe Combat get their act together and go online!

I don't think going into the EU will work that well. Stay close to the Saga. Stay with what people are familiar with. Besides, the NJO sucks. When you have to kill of CHEWBACCA just to get good sales...there is something wrong.

What they can add to space battles is ships that move. Ships that move past one another thereby allowing "spanish armada" type engagements.

Well...on some space maps the escorts already move...but yeah you are totally right! It would add a lot to the space battles if you are flying around and notice that one of the enemy escorts is moving into position to give your cruiser a broadside, and you got to try to stop it or atleast take down its shields before it gets into position!

That and it needs blackjack and strippers in the hangars! In fact...forget the blackjack!
