Bowser Jr I'm too excited about, but he could have some interesting abilities depending on how hey implement him (Shadow Mario, shell throwing, etc).
Ridley- wow, that'll be awesome.
TWW Link- I think a lot of people expected him to replace Young Link. Can't wait to see some of his sword moves in the game (though I doubt he'll have the "Ganondorf finishing move special"  ).
Haven't unlocked Mr Game & Watch yet so I can't really comment on his departure.
I will say I'm a little dissapointed that the Ice Climbers are being dropped though- they were very unique with their dual-character controls, and that's something no other character can relaly bring to the table (unless they somehow apply that to a "Mario Bros" character option that let's you use Mario & Luigi at the same time).
As to the other suggestions made here- Cpt. Falcon, Yoshi and Fox absolutely have to stay.
I would imagine either Roy or Marth will get dropped. People have said Falco is pretty popular, despite being a clone, so he may carry over too.

It was revieled that the interview was made entirely of lies, and the guy never even appeared on the radio program.

Along with Young Link, they seemed like the most logical choice to me, as they were the least used between my friends and I.

Damn, no Ridley confirmed yet 
Granted, I'm not sure how you'd implement him into a smash bros gaming mechanic.
He's huge for starters, much larger than Bowser to Mario. He has unlimited flight (which could be tweaked with I guess). I dunno. He just seems too powerful...
I still wouldn't shed a tear for losing Ice Climbers and Game and Watch. We have Pit for our retro fix now 
If they're getting rid of clone characters, I'd suspect Falco to go. He's nearly identical to Fox and I haven't seen what his supposed superior abilities are yet.
With Ganondorf having a sword in his melle victory dance and in WW, might he get a sword for Brawl? That could differentiate him enough from Falcon.
Too bad they made him a clone in Melee They could've made use of his energy blasts, ground slams, and lightning. Also could've made him float like Peach. With WW, you could add in some fancy sword moves.

Ima be pissed if it isn't true. I had never thought about having Ridley as a playable character in any game so now that the seed is planted I am pumped.

It could be done if he were approached as a Bowser type character. Powerful, but slow. You have to balance out the power in some way afterall.

I can't really see Ridley as a playable character- he's too big (at least as twice as tall as Samus), and his abilities would be too powerful (flight, etc).
I could see him being included as a boss character though.
