Young Link can either go or become a more refined character.
Same with Falco.
There is a much bigger differance between Fox and Falco than there is between the two Links though. I agree that Young Link should get the axe but Falco needs to stay!

Believe me, Falco won't go anywhere. He's one of the most favored characters by the pro smashers.

Falco falls slower, jumps higher, and his blasts go slower and actually stun the opponent. Other than that, what are the differences (honest question)?
His moves are the same and have the same effect (beyond maybe strength differences).
Young Link shoots fire arrows, his bombs spread more, his speed and strength are different, his hurricane spin has a different effect, his hook shot is shorter, and his jumps are different. He also has a wall jump.
I'd say Young Link has more differences between him and Link than Fox and Falco.

I think Zelda and Bowser are safe. I'd rather like the Ice Climbers to remain though, as their dual-character control was unique and fun.

I forget- was Jigglypuff even in Melee? He/she/it was the most useless character in the original game.

The Puff was definetly in Melee. And definetly NOT useless if you knew how to play with him/her/it.

Guess I just didn't know how to use her effectively then- never won using her in multi.

What's a Smash bros game without the blatant abuse of Pikachu's lightning strike?

It was answered already, but yes she(?) was.
The move I speak of is if you fall asleep when a character is basically sharing the same airspace as you, it'll blast the Hell out of them.
Yes, pretty damn useless until the last battle with the titans in that one mode... The one where you have set scenarios. Anyway, it's that last match where you fight with giga bowser, and two other hard hitters (I forget who, my gamecube went wonky a while back so I can't check). Use jigglypuff and giga bowser's toast.

That's the only way I was ever able to do it. I found that it worked best if you just tried to jump on top of people and hit it just as you were landing on them. If timed right you could rule the battlefield. If timed wrong you get to be someone's personal whipping boy. A risky but powerful move.

So true, he got so underpowered in SSBM by comparison.
But I digress, if Snake is the only 3rd party character... I'll be a little annoyed. But if they have Megaman, Snake, Sonic, hell even give me Bomberman. I'll be happy as long as it's not just a gimmick to sell the Wii. (Snake I mean)
Plus I'll play the Great Fox stage (granted they have one like the other two incarnations) and get to scream "Snake on a plane mothuh******" if the online has audio!

With all the commotion about characters, we're forgetting about levels!
I hope they have at least one like the Hyrule Temple. That was basically about four levels in one. You had the far left area. The middle are with the platform and column sticking up. The underground area. And the far right section. Sooo bloody fun to play as the matches tended to last longer if you were fighting smart players. To give yourself extra advantage, when your percentage is in the red, head to the underground section. You get bopped around a bit, but it can also buy you time as you may slow down by the time you're actually away from safety, and you can then easily save yourself. It sure as Hell beats above ground where a quick smash left right or up dooms ya.
I also hope adventure mode returns. Man that made me hungry for 3d rendered upgrades of the classic games

I completely agree with you on the Hyrule Temple level. imo, it was the best level in Melee because it was just pure skill there. No moving platform crap, and many tactical areas, such as the underground area. In fact, I was playing against my friends this morning and lived underground on my last life until I had 600% damage on me.

Without a doubt, Hyrule Temple was the best level in Melee. There were no "gimmicks" in the game like moving platforms, gusts of wind, or debri falling from the sky. The underground section of the level is extremely useful, and all the other sections of the level were fun to fight on as well. I think it is more fun if you have more players than two, like four, and if you play with people who are experienced. It prolongs the match, making it more fun.

Oh without question. I hope we get more of these in Brawl
Though the funniest moment happened in Onette. But it's one of those had to be there moments. In fact, that game has the single highest record for in-jokes of any game I've ever played.
