Playing Gears of War online, you get to hear all kinds of wonderful and colorful language...it's really beautiful.
Like for instance, I did not know I was a "****ing ["N-word"]-***got ["C-word"] ***rape **ke bitch" until I started playing CounterStrike back in the day, and I feel like I've lead a better life ever since this was brought to my attention.

So I'm one of the newest members of the 360 community, having purchased my console on the 14th. Already, I'm debating whether or not to return my 360 Pro and cough up the extra $100 to get an Elite.

Well, it actually depends on whether you're actually allowed to return the console and be reimbursed full price. And then there's the question whether you really need the Elite console. Its two major draws are the larger HDD and the HDMI connector. Now the HDMI cable is only worthwhile if you do have a HDTV that'll allow you to take advantage of it. The HDD is only worthwhile if you're planning to store an exceedingly high amount of videos/movies and the like. If you don't see yourself needing either of those two things, then stick with the console you already have and save the extra $100.00 for games.

You'd probably end up getting full price back for it but it will be in store credit, assuming you bought it in a real store and not from an online site. Otherwise I don't know ow it would work, but that's how things normally run when I return tech things nowadays.

I've never actually met anyone who does this, but the idea of the 120GB hard drive is for people who purchase TV shows and movies from the Live store. If you see yourself purchasing LOST every week from XBL, maybe you might want the Elite.
Some people I know have the 20GB hard drive, and rarely drop below 8 GB of freespace. You can re-download anything you buy in the Marketplace, so you'll REALLY have to go out of your way to fill up 80GB.
Even with the movies, you can delete them when you're done, and re-download them at a later time without having to buy them again. Unless you just hate the idea of having to re-download something, there's no reason to go above 80GB.

Some game expansions take up a lot of room though, Oblivion's Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles took up 1.2 GB or something like that. Not much by itself, but if you keep all your games over the years it'll soon build up. Downloadable/episodic content will get more popular as time goes on.

Looks like my Elite plans are on hold for a while, at least until the summer. As it turns out the $300-$600 Stimulus Check from Bush (you son of a...) I was supposed to get sometime here in May isn't gonna happen after all. My mom will get money for me, but I won't be getting anything. Oh well, at least they spent $50 mil to tell me I wasn't getting anything!
Oh that and I am looking into adopting a puppy. Puppy >>> Video Games. Sorry, I am a dog lover.

I've been thinking of getting a 360 to replace my PS2 which is on it's last legs, but I'm undecided on which model to go for. Is the Elite worth the extra money compared to the Premium and are either of the models more or less likely to suffer failiure?

Actually, no. The HDMI converter is sold separately at around $60, +/-. So you can get a regular console and then purchase the HDMI converter later IF you really want/need it.
The Elite's larger HDD is, again, only recommended if you intend to D/l and store a huge amount of media that might require more than the 15gb the standard HDD offers.
As for the RROD (Red Ring of Death) failures, well, my SECOND console is on its way to Texas now and it was supposedly a newer model, which is supposed to be less prone to failure. So basically its a crapshoot whether or not your new X360 will ever suffer from the RROD. It's nice of MS to offer the extended warranty though. However, it is an inconvenience to fork over $40+ to ship it over to them and then wait for a new console to arrive everytime your Xbox dies on you.

So get this, my friend got the 20 GB 360 and got the RROD the other day but he is happy about it, oddly enough. Coincidentally I guess when he bought his it was the same price as the Elite is now and he has like a 4 year protection plan or something ridiculous so he is getting an upgrade for free basically. He called and confirmed it this morning.
How cool is that? Yeah for raping the system!
