I've got a Riolu/Lucario farm up and running, so if you need one, I should be able to offer it.
I'm hoping to get all the starting pokemon...if anyone happens to have spares/the ability to breed them, I'd love you forever. At this point, I'm hoping a friend'll be getting it soon, so I'll borrow their game to get females of them all before I start. Once I can do that, should be able to start farming.

I can get Gen 1 starters easily. I can get all Gen 4 startes easily. I can only provide Mudkips from Gen 3 and no Gen 2, though. I really need to finish Emerald so I can go through and transfer over the other two starters from Gen 3 and get the starters from Gen 2.

So I haven't played any Pokemon games since the original Red/Blue games, but I recently got a DS and am considering getting the latest games. Problem is I'd feel like an idiot buying/playing a game I've always considered "for kids" when I'm almost 24. Am I wrong? Should I give Ppokemon another try? Are the newer games even worth playing?
I would say that one of the best RPGs on the market, one of the largest selling video franchises of all time, and one of Nintendo's big three is a franchise worth investing in. Pokemon D/P is probably my favorite installment aside from R/B/Y (which has nothing over D/P except the nostalgia factor). It's an incredibly deep game once you get into EV training, breeding for natures/abilities/egg moves, etc. D/P also introduced a few entirely new aspects of gameplay aside from the new Pokemon, attacks, items, and abilities. This version saw breeding changes, the physical/special split, the Sinnoh Underground, global trading/battling, and a few other things that I can't recall at this moment. That's not to mention that the Pokemon games are some of the most unique when it comes to RPGs.

Ive only played the Bue Version and Gold version which kicks major a$$. How's the Pearl though. I need more Pokemonz!

so you can only get the pokemon that were starters from the original game they were starters in? that's sort of lame...

As for Gold/Silver, I'd be ecstatic. Crystal is still my favorite Pokemon game.

Yeah Gold was the first I bought properly having used an emulator for the first 3.
But the game is so good. It feels like a real continuation of what was set in Red and Blue, while games like Ruby/Sapphire failed as they ended up being seen as starting new rather than carrying on what was set with the GB and GBC titiles.
And yeah wasn't it confirmed in the cartoon that the rival is Giovanni's son as there's only a hint in the game

I look forward to a battle. While my teams span all 4 generations of pkmn, its the original 251 I prefer. Plus I have a legit Mew that I like to battle with. As it's officially recieved off Nintendo, I feel it should be used. Sadly I know I can't use my Celebi as it was AR'd, even though it obeys.
Until Nintendo make gaining Celebi legit, I see no reason not to get it thru AR/Gameshark, etc.

Personally I'm dubious about the rumours, although i really want it to be true. Gold and Silver were so much of a leap from red/blue, the new pokémon, new moves, new places, holding items, the time feature, pokémon breeding, happiness, shiny pokémon, pokérus.
Its biggest downfall was its battery running out, which has happened to all of my gen-2 games, but that's exactly why it should be remade, plus the fact it is no longer compatible with any of the recent games in trading etc.

So it looks as if Pokemon Platinum (a remake of D/P) was recently confirmed to be released this August by CoroCoro magazine. According to CoroCoro, Volkner is no longer the Sunyshore Gym Leader, the Underground in now Wi-Fi enabled, there's some sort of island called Battle Island which works in the same way as the Battle Tower, and there are new Pokemon "forms" (what that means I'm not exactly sure), such as Giratina's origin form, Regigigas' Sky Form, and Shaymin's Another form.
