IGN isn't the only reviewer who's given it a 10. Plenty of other early reviews have been perfect across the board as well (IIRC, there's only been one review that hasn't given it a 10). If this game can derail Kingdom Hearts II as the greatest game of our age, then more power to it.

Straight tens from IGN...apparently that's only been given one other time, according to their review.

Can't wait for this game!

Theres actually around 15 games that have gotten a 10, I just can't find the list right now.

Their last 10 was Soul Calibur in 1999.

I just got GTA IV today for the PS3, two days before it's release!

We went to a video rental store last night to rent a few movies, and I saw it in the sale glass case for new games.... it was the only one in the case sitting there all by itself. I thought it may have been the pre-order box at first, but it obviously wasn't and was the actual game. I didn't get it, because we decided to go look at Best Buy to see if they had it. It was't out (of course). Then, we simply went home and watched the movie we rented.

So, I went back today to video store, and lo and behold, it was still there...

I bought it, and the girl behind the counter must not have known it's not 'officially' out yet.

I should have tried to do something like that, instead I pre-ordered it from the game store where they are having some sort of party the night before the release.

My copy for the Xbox 360 shipped on Friday from Amazon; should be here tomorrow.

Other Known Music:

There are songs that only play in the interior of buildings. These include:

* Rick James - "Come Into My Life"
* Goldfrapp - "Ooh La La"
* Niall Toner Band - "A Real Real"
* Killian's Angels - "Celtic High Step"

The theme song used in the game is called "Soviet Connection - The Theme from Grand Theft Auto IV."

Jesus, man, that soundtrack...that soundtrack is glorious. ****ing Afro Beat station hosted by Fema-mother****ing-Kuti would be amazing on its own, but the classic Hip-Hop, Fusion Jazz, and even Classic Rock channels just seem incredible.

(Iggy Pop DJ-ing a station that plays Bowie? Makes you wonder what he's gonna say on-air.)

I will say it is odd that the Philip Glass and Aphex Twin music from the adverts is on the soundtrack, but "Get Innocuous" by LCD Soundsystem (used in the ad where Nico is walking through the city) isn't. But driving around with Pruit-Igoe and Oxygene IV playing is going to be sweet.

I'm also going to have massive Iron Eagle flashbacks when Queen's "One Vision" starts playing as I'm pulling off drive-bys.

So, basically, a lot of non-obvious picks from artists everyone knows, or at least should, peppered with some well-known gems. (It took this long to get "Bump-'N-Grind" in here why, exactly? That should've been a package deal with introducing girlfriends and the ability to go clubbing.)

There's already a fair amount of bitching from younger and dumber players that there isn't as much recognizable stuff in there, and "too much hip-hop." **** those people.

This is the most diverse and varied soundtrack I've seen since, well...anything.

This is quickly going to replace "Rocket Race," Four Sentry-Gun Engineer spawn-camping, and whatever those Call of Duty 4 guys are up to as the best XBL experience in history.

Also, new trailer/TV spot that will own you:

Because I don't think everyone has gotten the biggest bulge in their trousers they have ever had, just yet.

Really? I hadn't heard that, but could be they changed their minds for this one. I gotta say, the people who are jumping into multiplayer the night they get the game are nuts. The multiplayer's a complete afterthought until Thursday or Friday, at the very least, for me.

Reading the reviews for it, I'm amazed at how many little things Rockstar added. A full-blown Internet, hours of television programming, the ability to go watch a show at a theater, the Ricky Gervais stand-up routines...it's like some kind of Second Life, except this time, being an ***hole is encouraged.

Also, screw all this "Console A-will-sell-more-copies-of-the-game-than-Console B" nonsense. Let's just look forwards to GUN RAPING the **** outta each other.

I'm not a big GTA fan but I've been noticing the amazing reviews all over the place, just finished reading the one from the New York Times:

Although I've no plans to get it right away, I'm definitely going to keep an eye out and hope to get it eventually.

It seemed like they went out of their way to not use the term "video game."
