Word to the wise: Go on the dating site, and find the lawyer-chick. If you consummate the relationship, she proves to be very, very useful. So much so, that it almost feels like cheating.
Was doing the mission where you need to get a job interview to take out the lawyer. First off, the resume was hysterical. The first time, I walk into the office, sit and listen to the guy yammer on for a while, till I stand up, point the gun at him, grab the files, and pop him in the head.
The secretary runs in and sees the scene, almost collapsing, screaming, and Niko says, "I guess I didn't get the job!" ****ing awesome.
Love this game, and I love how you'll almost always get different dialogue if you fail a mission. Nice way to get a better feel of who you're working for, and keeping things fresh.
Also, the Ken Burns-esque "History of Liberty City" TV show is pitch-perfect. I can't believe I spent so much of my day watching it.

I was having a problem with that. I was listening to this amazingly catchy song on the Eastern European station, and I tried to dial the number in the booklet, but I'd always get a busy signal or whatever. So I just came online to look at the soundtrack to see if I recognized the name, and it was "Schweine" by Glukoze. Love that song.
Re: "Schweine":
I love how infectious the melody is, and I read that this song was remade in English, but it wasn't a hit. But I feel like I've heard it somewhere in a commercial, or something. Anyone feel the same?
I also love the two Seryoga songs in the game, "King Ring" and "Liberty City: The Invasion." Something about Russian rap is utterly badass. All three are on my iPod.
Nothing beats having a deathmatch in the middle of a gas station. Having the station blow up while you're mowing down the other team is iconic.
I wish the had silencers, though. I want the option to go all stealthy, with my black suit and red tie.

I'll second (or "third," or even "fourth") this sentiment.

Can someone help me out with the melee combat? I don't remember seeing the instructions you're meant to get in the mission. How are you supposed to block/dodge? (So far all I've managed is to beat everyone wild punching style.)

^ I wish I could help, but I forgot them, myself. I don't really bother with melee anyway, except as a last resort or if a mission requires taking someone out quietly. The_Crow posted: Aragorn327 posted: Three Leaf Clover = best mission ever.

Having just completed that mission myself, I'm going to have to fifth this. Frickin' intense.

IIRC, B is your standard punch. A is used for avoidance, timing it right before a punch'll give you a block or dodge. X kicks, and y is an alternative hit. Using X or Y right after a Block/Dodge does more damage.
...that said, if I'm going to melee, I hit them with a bat. If you don't happen to have one on hand, there's one across the street from your starting safehouse, at the back end of the lot behind the hotdog vendor across the street.

I have a PS3. :-p
But it's just the timing then? I guess I just suck.
What about disarming an opponent? I seem to remember reading that you can do that, if they have a weapon and you don't.

There's that dude with one injured hand and a knife you fight fairly early on, in that construction site, whom I disarmed, but using the Xbox 360 controller-layout (locking-on with LT, waiting for him to lunge, hitting A, and then X, I think it was).
Not sure how the PS3 configuration is, but I'll bet Rockstar designed them to be similar to each other.
The motorcycle chase in "No Love Lost" made me feel like a Down Syndrome gibbon. At least Niko swears for me on the failures. "**** dat guy!" "Mother****!" "I hate thees **eet!"
Me too, pal. Me too.
But I love the cell-phone instant-retry. Almost seems unfair, after San Andreas's epic chases away from the mission hub.

yeah, that's the mission where you're supposed to get the melee instructions but I'm sure I never saw them.
I pushed him out the window on to a veranda thing and then kicked him into the harbour. Good stuff. I then jumped off, landed on a lamp post, fell off and commando rolled to safety from the second floor without a scratch. Commando Niko.

For whatever reason I hadn't started the Packie missions until tonight. I had already capped Playboy and did several missions for UL Paper and Francis. I finally got around to the Packie missions and the first one alone is awesome. I read about the three leaf clover mission and I am heading straight for it. It sounds awesome.

I'd recommend saving beforehand, to be able to replay it
Wish I'd done that for two or three other missions.

I haven't gotten to that mission yet. I've only just started working with Elizabeta, McReary and Playboy.

Halo 3? A $300 million release-week.
GTA IV?
A $500 million release-week. One of the biggest events in entertainment history.
So, to be perfectly blunt....Kate's never putting out, is she?
Doubt it. I got 100% fondness with her, and she just kept turning me down. Honestly, if you want someone you can take out and nail 24/7, go on LoveMeet and date LawChick, a.k.a. Kiki Jenkins.
She sends panty-pics on your cell phone, she wants the beef-injection so badly. And, as noted above, if you get her fondness to 100%, her "favor" for you is awesome.

Packie warns Niko about Kate and how she just never puts out.
I started dating Carmen but found her so annoying that I went crazy. I dumped her and started dating Kiki. She's a crazy woman.

The only difference between Carmen and picking up hookers is that hookers don't insult your cloths, refer to themselves in the third person, dis your car, pitch a fit if you can't take her out because your committing an armed robbery, and finally, the hookers actually affect your health when you hook-up with one.
I never could figure out what Carmen's "power" was supposed to do. It always sounded like thinly veiled phone-sex.
"Carmen, I'm feeling real bad."
"Oh, Niko, you have to put pressure on the wound."
'kay. Do I give you my credit card number now?
