Star Wars Dream Games Wishlist
|
1.) Bounty Hunter II: Alright, we had a decent story for the original bounty hunter game. However, what I would love to see, is a sequel that completely updates what this franchise should be. Picture yourself as Boba Fett, or Jango Fett, just getting your start as a bounty hunter. The game is a complete free-roamer, grand theft auto style, but provides smaller city areas (Than spiderman 3 or superman) for a dozen or so planets. The core mechanic is a tracking mechanic. You take on a specific bounty, or bounties, and you either visit informants, paying or intimidating your way to get info, until you finally track down your quarry, taking them either dead or alive (depending on contract). A variety of ground based and starship combat is a must. A Star Wars free-roamer is long overdue, and being able to track down the scum of the galaxy from Coruscant to Nar Shaaddaa to Tatooine and Socorro is something I think we would all love to do in a video game format.
2.) Sabacc: For too long fans have waited for an official sabacc game. With the incredible spike in popularity of online poker, this would seem to be a no brainer. I can see this game working one or both of two ways. Either just as I said before, a simple online set up where you play against other live opponents, or, a story version, where you work your way up from a local game on tatooine all the way to the Bespin Sabacc Tournament, playing against the likes of lando and han solo. Like many other poker single player games out there, there would be a focus on tells and the like, with some interesting cut-scenes in between.
3.) X-Wing Series: I know we all want this one to come back. X-Wing Alliance was so close to giving us all everything we wanted out of a star wars space simulator. But now, what we really need is a full selection of prequel ships, a prequel storyline, and a much more flexible multi-player engine that allows more players at once, a full selection of ships, and multi-player crews. Let me pilot the customized freighter while my friends man the guns. Let someone crew an ISD with gunners. It can't possibly be that hard to do. With how far technology has come in the 10 years or more since we had a new release in this series, I can't even imagine how great this game has the potential to be.
4.) Star Wars: Tactics: Probably a PSP or NIN DS release, I just love those old turn based RPGs like final fantasy tactics. I would literally kill for a star wars version. It can simply cover the events of the saga, or tell a completely original story in any era. Either way, someone please give me a tactics game.
5.) Imperial Commando: I need a Republic Commando sequel, and what could be more fun than being the bad guys!? Imagine going to Endor and slaughtering Ewoks! Thats always fun. Keep the same general game mechanic while crafting an all new story focused either on Boss and his team or a completely new one, dealing with being a part of the Empire instead.
6.) Starfighter 3: The storyline of Nym, Vana Sage, and Rhys Dallows cant be left as it is. (Adi, unfortunately, isn't around during E3, but Saesee Tiin or Plo Koon could easily substitute). Id love to see where this story goes during the E3 era. There must have been a third one planned! And who doesn't want to take part in that massive space battle over coruscant! I know there were hints of other massive space battles too toward the end of the war. Praesitlyn and Belderone to name a couple of the larger ones. This is prime territory for a video game like Starfighter 3 to explore.
7.) Darth Maul: Shadows of the Sith: Darth Maul is someone we all want more of. I would love to see a stealth mechanic based game dealing with Darth Maul. Think Technu: Stealth Assassin, with darth maul as your character. I would be chomping at the bit to play that game. Some force powers, toss in a rage meter, bam, you have a great game.
8.) Smuggler: Something a bit between X-Wing Alliance and jedi Starfighter, this game would focus on an original character and allow you to choose a base freighter model from a few dozen different options, and play through a series of story missions, with a mixture of ground and space combat, but the thing that makes it unique, is that you get to modify your ship with your earned credits, as well as a deep trading system, that allows you to buy a variety of cargos to take with you to the next planet to sell at a profit during whatever hijinks occur there. Also, picture this: you are in the midst of a space battle, and you take a iht to the rear shields that punches through. Frustrated, you set on the auto-pilot or have your co-pilot fly, while you run back to try and fix the problem. A series of intensely precise button presses later (think disarming bombs in spiderman 3, or some of the boss take-downs in marvel: ultimate alliance) and you get the piece of machinery up and running, and then you run to the gun turret, etc. Giving you that han solo experience of working on the falcon, which is two steps away from a junk pile, while remaining the fastest hulk in the galaxy.
Anyway, I could probably keep going all day, but I would love to hear other people's ideas for dream games, or what they think of my ideas!

I've only got one...a true sequel to the X-Wing series. They make that, and I will be one happy gamer.

Yes to 1, 3, 5 +7.
Mainly for me is a new Xwing sequel- something a bit different but living up to the Xwing name as well, and yes prequel stuff has to be added

Lol, that would be funny.
They should make it so that the controller precisely controls the blade, you could have real lightsaber battles then.

Unfortunetly, I don't think we'll see any of the games that were described in the first post. LucasArts doesn't have an "event" to coincide the release with and none of the games follow the movies, so obviously people won't be able to understand them!

Bounty Hunter II could easily cover some of Boba's doings prior to ANH, and maybe shed some light on the 'No disintigrations' line.

Well of course Lucasarts wont make any of them, thats why its a wish list :P I dont have a wiii, but a lightsaber game seems overdue already! Agreed!

Actually I just read a little news blurb the other day about how a Lightsaber game for the Wii is on the horizon. Granted it's pure rumor at this point because no one at LucasArts has made any public announcements but...cross your fingers.
