Details. Plus some art and screenshots.

I loved Bionic Commando as a kid. Beating it was one of the proudest days of my young life. But I'll hold my thoughts until I see more detail of the gameplay. We all know that Contra's update to next-gen didn't go so well, either.

Hopefully, they give this game a save-function. I dedicated way too many Saturdays trying to get through it in one sitting. Robot Hitler better be making an appearance. And Mike Patton. Great casting there. Loved his voiceovers in The Darkness.

Should be fun to see what kinds of uses and puzzles they develop based around the ol' Bionic extendo-arm. I'll be happy if I can use it to punch/neck-snap people from across the room.

As I mentioned in another thread- I'm actually shocked this isn't a Wii game, as it was the one property after Star Wars and Punch-Out that came to mind as being a perfect match for the wiimote back when the controller was announced.

True. Tearing someone's throat out just won't be the same without twisting the Wii-nunchuck, Manhunt-style. At least LucasArts finally got the drift about Star Wars.

My penis has exploded twice this week from video game news. This is one of my most favoritest NES games ever. Speaking of which, I can't tell you how many times I exploded Hitler's face:

Zelda's harem, Leto, your what has exploded twice this week?!

Ah . . .

Bionic Commando was a strict game. You can't say you weren't tempted to shoot in the neutral zones and cause havoc. There was one stage late in the game that immediately had a barrier you could only shoot with that triple laser. But the rocket launcher, being the most powerful weapon, was something you always equiped. If you didn't know the secret stage-cancel controller combo, you were stuffed.

The game's one shot-in-the-copter cockpit was edgy. Had to time it just right. Why'd they remake this game of all ideas?

I think we have it all wrong.

The only game SCREAMING for a new revamping is of course, the classic of classics:

Bad Dudes.

I mean, not only do you have a huge built-in fanbase, but in this day and age, with the current global situations with Iraq, the scandalous US presidency...what game could possibly be more pertinent to these social hot topics than one with this plot:

It's a valid point. In these times, I think the question posed by Bad Dudes is one we must all, as citizens of the world, ask ourselves.

Bad Dudes' plot was worthy of mention in my magnum opus (youtube "Requiem for a Game"! happy ), so why not? But to make it edgier, the eequel would have to involve Samurai, Pirates, Aliens or Samurai Pirate Aliens.

Anyways- there's a trailer up on gametrailers for this new BC. Looks like it'll be fun- has a dash of Spider-man feel with the urban environment swinging, though I wonder if you'll actually be able to jump in this game, or if they'll keep it old school and only allow you to run off of ledges. I always liked my theory about the original that the bionic arm gear was just to heavy for the Commando to jump with, hehe...

Also glad to hear the BC theme is being kept- heard a particularly good rendition of that off of OCRemix the other day, so this announcement has pretty good timing with me having BC on the brain.

The post-apocalyptic setting seems a bit unnecessary though- I liked the psuedo-period setting of the original.

They should remake Kid Icarus, instead of endless Mario revisions. Those weapons' thieves made some good heart pounding moments. tongue

With Pitt showing up in Smash bros Brawl, I wouldn't be surprised if a next-gen Icarus game finds it's way to the Wii not long after.

Those pesky ninjas. Always starting ****. Ninjas only give and receive messages via little scrolls wrapped around throwing-darts or shurikens...er...I mean...this IS the "Video Games" forum...

Another reason why a Bad Dudes remake will be successful: that's clearly Duke-mother-****ing-NUKEM giving them their mission briefing. If 3D Realms ever pulls a "Prey," and releases their 15-year-delayed game, talk about a big cameo.

We love you, Capcom. Oh yes, we do.

This is the most underrated game of all time, bar none. While other games from the NES era became huge franchises that continue to this day, Bionic Commando slipped under the radar for reasons unknown.

While Mario was busy trying to save an ugly girl over and over, Simon Belmont kept failing miserably to kill one vampire, and Mega Man kept finding ways to let Doc Wily escape, the Bionic Commando was killing ****ing HITLER!

Throw in some truly inspired gameplay (it was thrilling to be hurtling through the air towards a pit of lava, knowing that only a perfectly-timed grapple was going to save your ass), and you have one of my favorite games of the entire NES era. Let's just hope that whoever is playing co-op with me doesn't mind sitting in that section of the first level for an hour collecting power-ups as guys parachute down.

Still no jump button. What drove me mad as a youngster, I now find strangely endearing.

I hope they keep the badly-translated English, or at least throw in an homage or two. ("Get the heck out of here, you NERD!")

Oh. My. God! I knew this was coming out, but I didn't think it would look that awesome! A freaking side-scroller on a next gen console!! One of my all-time fave NES games and I'll get to play it again, yay!

Whoa! I'm not even a casual fan of Bionic Commando, but Rearmed looks amazing. Yet once again, my lack of Xbox Live pummels my anticipation.

The actual next-gen remake, however, I will be able to get. And it's looking fantastic.

Holy wow! The addition of Co-op is particular awesmatic. If anything, it'll be worth playing just to get the real Bionic Commando character skin in the next-gen game.

Going back to badly-translated games above, I just so want to see stuff that is full of Engrish, such as:

Battle Rangers

or:

Ghosts 'N Goblins

Then again, this thread is really all about Blaster Master.

Agreed. Ninjas captured the effing President. Show me one real movie with a greater plot!

Then again, I'll go with Super Mario Brothers. You know, my imaginary one that bears more than a family resemblance to the actual story of the original GAME, and doesn't tarnish the reputation of Bob Hoskins, Dennis Hopper, and the director of The Mission and The Killing Fields.

Turns out this game is delayed some thanks to bugs, but as a consolation, the soundtrack is now up for purchase on iTunes or MP3 format here.

I'm still really anticipating this release, and am hugely bummed that it's getting pushed back. (Still, "Miyamoto's Maxim" applies.)
