Variety has apparently confirmed the Ghostbusters game lives on- even being written by Ramis, Akroyd and Murray (!!!) as a sequel to the films. All three will be also be providing voicework, as well as Ernie Hudson and William Atherton (aka Water Peck).
And the peasants rejoiced...

Fixed.
Also Brian Doyle Murray and Annie Potts are onboard too, and it seems the movie is set during the 90's after GB2.

Excellent news. I remember a ghostbusters game from my youth on the old computer my friend had. It was always a thrill.

So Ramis, Ackroyd, Murry, etc. will do a videogame, but not a movie?
I'm not complaining though, this is the next best thing.

Looking at the track record of the dev I predict a 6.5. Hurray for milking movie franchises.

There's also this. This sounds promising, though you have to wonder what Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd know about video games.
This is the deal-sealer for me:
Now, the "hulking badass" look is a bit much for Ghostbusters, and I really hate the "hardcore" logo re-design, but the gameplay seems to be a step in the right direction. Keep the whole pest-control/blue-collar aspect of their job, and the game could work.

Hoping for the best but expecting the worst with this one. I hope there's multiplayer so I can say stuff like "nice shooting, Tex," and "don't cross the streams".

Wii, DS Versions of Ghostbusters Aimed at Casual Gamers
The recently announced Ghostbusters video game might be coming to multiple systems, but not all versions of the title will be the same, according to the latest report from Variety.
More details regarding the game, set to star the quartet of specter sweepers, have been revealed, including publisher Vivendi Games' decision to create two different versions of the game. One version for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is being marketed for a hardcore gamer audience, while versions for Nintendo Wii and DS are being targeted at a casual, family audience. Red Fly Studio, the development team currently at work on Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars for Wii and DS, will helm the Nintendo projects.
Vivendi Games is looking to release the as-of-now untitled Ghostbusters project in the fall of 2008. The publisher hopes to release a series of games based around the Ghostbusters license.

I'm not complaining though, this is the next best thing.
Ackroyd and Ramis were said to have been trying to get a CGI film going. Part of the problem is that Murray and Ramis had a falling out after doing "Groundhog Day" and that Murray is not a fan of doing sequels. It took a lot to get him to do GB2. Apparently this will appease them and allow us to get something worthwhile.

Wonder what kind of adult-oriented content they're planning on shoehorning into a Ghostbusters game on the 360 and PS3?
Graphic sex? Extreme gore? Cussing like sailors?

I love the premise...Ghostbusters is general culture enough not to get the "film game" tag.
I worry a touch about the game footage...it looked a little FPS...I would rather they go the way of GTA or Scarface and have it more 3rd person...and I REALLY hope it's open world NYC...love to drive around town in Ecto-1!
