Apparently the new name won't be unleashed upon our tender and sensitive gamer eyes:

In fact our games have never been branded as Vivendi. The Activision Blizzard brand will not appear anywhere as a consumer-facing brand. Basically it is a corporate brand for the overall company. If you want to buy stock in the company, the stock is called Activision Blizzard; the central shared services for the company, such as the sales and distribution force, will be Activision Blizzard. But Blizzard Entertainment will continue to be a publishing label... You should not see it [Activision Blizzard] on anything. It will not be associated with any product.

Well that is a "duh" statement...both of those companies have market share based on their brand name these days...and 1+1 =/= 2 when it comes to brand names. As I pray the new Microsoft/Ford venture proves in short order (For those who don't know...google for the Microsoft "sync" system in Ford vehicles).

Has anyone seen one outside an essential guide?

Could this affect the content of upcoming games? I'm thinking of the long-awaited Diablo III.

Diablo III was dead anyway...all original developers for that series left blizzard north in a rather nasty parting of the ways with the company.

I've been eagerly awaiting Diablo III ever since they ruined the Warcraft series (Warcraft III on)...and from everything I've heard, Diablo III is extremely unlikely until less staff is working on WoW and most definitely after Starcraft II releases.

Blizzard knows they have loyal Diablo fans dying for new stuff...which is why they continue to patch D2 even though 1.9 was suppose to be the "last patch"...1.10 was the "last patch"...etc.

It'll come eventually...is it on the calendar? No.

Blizzard is currently making a new MMO, it could be D3 (or Galaxy of Starcraft tongue )

Stress makes you bald, but it's stressful to avoid stress, so you end up stressed out anyway.
So in the end there's nothing you can do.

Thanks for the heads up, Marine. The last news I heard about D3 was they were composing the soundtrack, and that was months ago. If the original team aren't going to be around to do D3 then I'm slightly worried. How the hell are you going to continue from where D2 left off unless you know what you're doing.

Which is why it's not happening.

I don't know where you heard about a soundtrack...but not much sense to that unless you have a game to put it in. More likely Blizzard had "generic" fantasy compositions recorded to be used in anything, and somebody got a little "premature" with the possible uses for such stuff.

To my knowledge...with the exception of dedicated forums on almost every gaming site to a Diablo 3...there is nothing in existence for the game.

Now in terms of game play an possible early concept for what Diablo III was to become before Blizzard North Blew up...search the game "Hellgate: London"...had many of the creators of the Diablo series...and it's rumored that the original game mechanic ideas for that game were intended for Diablo III...but no code ever was put down.

So in the end...just treasure Diablo II as the diamond it is...knowing full well that Blizzard will come around to sequelize it in 4 or 5 years...I just hope they don't "cartoon" it up like they did Warcraft...sheesh.
