Eternal Darkness was a brilliant game with a truely captivating storyline. As fun and scary as the game is, it's the need to find out what happens next in the story that pushes you forward. love all the small touches olike footsteps upstairs above you while walking along hallways and such.
I mean how can you NOT love a game who suggests World War I was started by demons just because they needed more bodies to feed a Corpse God?
Sonic is undeniably an influential and historically noteworthy game. I just never liked his games- and don't get me wrong, I want to like it, I've tried to like it, it just doesn't do anything for me.

I'm ashamed to admit that I completely forgot about Eternal Darkness and left it off my list. Second only to RE4 in the survival-horror genre IMHO. Even when you KNOW about the sanity effects they still freak you out when they happen. It had a fairly epic storyline in a great Lovecraftian style.

I love Sonic, but didn't put it on my list.
Super Smash Bros. (that's my quote!) is the first game on my list to appear in the countdown! Great game, should be higher. I've wasted so much time playing that game.
Sadly, I haven't owned a Nintendo since the 64, so I haven't experienced Melee or Brawl.

no, sonic 2 should be top ten as it was a drastically better game. sonic should be top twenty though.
number one is civ 2. period.
great list so far, can't say i agree with all of them. some i think should be much higher than they are, but i'm sure i'm not alone on that one.

Finally a game from my list. Though I'm surprised Symphony of the Night didn't make it further. It's the best Castlevania game I've ever played. Great weapons, levels, music, and just overall design.

A couple from my list. That second Bioshock quote is mine, as is the quote for Medieval: Total War. Which, by the way, is far superior to its sequel with I imagine ranks much higher on this list. 
So, what's up with Zoo Tycoon? Haven't heard much about it, and that's a surprisingly high ranking. Is this some masterpiece I've just somehow managed not to notice?

I wouldn't rank it as high as it ended up (it didn't make my list), but it can be entertaining, if you're bored. Not the greatest, but an interesting hour or two.
