I guess another good idea for a sequel would be to set the game in the present, where some unlucky underwater survey team stumbles across more-or-less still habitable remnants of Rapture, populated by the scattered spawn of the surviving Splicers and still living/functioning Big Daddies. Or better yet, the game's protagonist and fellow crewmates were actually led there by their female leader: a deluded, grownup Little Sister previously rescued by Jack Ryan, who decided to return to Rapture to look for clues about her past (or to harvest Adam). The player would be lead by her via radio just like Jack was led by Atlas, jumping through her hoops and attempting to survive the new, more dangerous Rapture. The player could face similar and numerous moral choices just like Jack did...

I guess I'm rambling now. All I hope is that, whatever the developers decide to do, it better be good. And yeah, do away with the Vita-Chambers. Those devices were definitely gamebreakers as far as Bioshock 1 is concerned.

I think all they need to do is give us the option of turning the Vita-Chambers off. People like my sister (who love, but suck at videogames) should be able to play the game if they want to. Sure, you or I could (and did, many times) take down Big Daddies without even taking a serious hit; however, for someone else, the Big Daddies would amount to insurmountable, joy-killing monsters without the Vita-Chambers.

You can always just not use the Vita-Chambers. Really.

I think have the Vita Chambers (for us wusses) and have the option to turn them off. That way you can play how you want to.

Here's a tip: A fully upgraded chemical thrower + a full tank of electro-gel = one dead Big Daddy. With the Vita-Chambers, however, that method seemed tantamount to cheating. Without Vita-Chambers (or with them turned off), that method would have simply been a good strategy.

Yes, I know the chemical thrower with electro gel is quite effective. Unfortunately, you don't get that until, what, mid/late into the game? What would be the best strategy to deal with them bastiches without the chemical thrower?

Any weapon that dealt electrical damage worked better on the Big Daddies. Trap bolts worked well, but you don't get those until the middle of the game either. I don't think there are any good early game strategies other than use your most powerful explosive/armor piercing weapons and keep moving. The shotty with electro-buckshot worked all right, but you couldn't carry enough ammo to kill the BD without having to reload.

I have to admit that since I rented it, after a few levels on normal I decided I just wanted to get through it so I turned it to easy. After that Big Daddies weren't even really that hard at all.

Anything electric worked wonders when I fought Big Daddies. They were a constant headache early on in the game but by midpoint they became much more manageable, probably because I had far more toys to work with.

Side-note-thing, but:
BioShock movie is a "go." Director is Gore Verbinski.

My goal is to meet Gore Verbinski one day, so he can sign my The Daredevils 7-inch record where he plays guitar.

Verbinski is not so much to blame for Pirates 2 and 3 as Elliot and Rossio are. Those scripts didn't make a damn bit of sense on a narrative or logical level, and really set up these very self-important themes that ended up coming to no fruition. Technically they're very well done, and I'm sure Verbinski will do a good job with BioShock.

What I'm nervous about is the story, and more importantly, the set design. They're going to have to work very hard to capture the look of Rapture, and frankly I'm not sure if they can with traditional sets. This might be better served as a 300-style greenscreen movie.

I'm glad he touched on the rating issue and the Little Sisters; I hope he sticks to his word on that.

"Would You Kindly...??" Boom. There's your tagline.

And they've just announced BioShock 3 -- the franchise is now officially a trilogy.

To coincide with the release of the Verbinski-helmed film, apparently.
