This game looks seriously amazing. The 9 very diverse classes and the revolutionary combat system it employs make it the most anticipated game for me at the moment along with the MMORPG BIOWARE and Lucasarts are working on. But back to Age of Conan. To summarize what I know of the game:
1. Unlike other MMORPGs it uses a unique combat system in real time and without the old fashioned targeting and attack routine. Sword swings for example are directional or sweeping, attacking something in front of you or at a 90 degree angle in front of you depending on the strike. Magic on the other hand is often times cone shaped and will hit any targets within the cone of the blast. All this, in my opinion, will make for a far more enjoyable combat system than we are used to from the WoWish styled MMORPGs.
2. Mounted combat is an option. Three different mount types each of them with their own idiosyncrasies and additional individual variations will make for another new and exciting style of play we are not particularly used to.
3. Siege combat... Cities can be built by large guilds and then fought over. Though the city build project is supposedly long and time consuming a siege battle is supposedly the ultimate hour long carnage available to players.
4. Game engine! Damn this thing looks incredible. I mean if you have an 8800 card and can turn on everything the game engine can offer I'm sure it will look drop dead gorgeous.

Well this is coming out soon, anyone planning on testing it out? Is there an open beta before its release even? I havent really looked into this game, but the graphics are great. Also, the whole 'conan' thing never really appealed to me as im not a conan fan, but the world seems interesting enough. Anyone have any input?

I paid for early access and yeah I am not a Conan fan either but the whole idea of swing damage and not the ol' target and mash button thing + mounted and siege warfare just got me hooked.

From the trailers and images available, the game looks entertaining. It looks like it departs slightly from the typical MMO mold while still maintaining the fundamentals. I won't play not because of lack of desire but because it's cost prohibitive to acquire a machine with the hardware to run it.

I've picked it up. So far, I'm not impressed. The classes all feel pretty much the same so far - you start out getting the exact same special moves for most physical classes it seems. The UI is mediocre, although I have to admit that I'm very spoiled by being able to create my own UI from scratch in WoW with a bazillion add-on options. I have a high end computer, and while the graphics aren't bad, they're nothing to write home about either. Finally, it seems I have to spend ten to fifteen minutes patching before playing every time I open the game up - that is in fact what I'm doing now.

I love the game. And to "Raven" you have to remember that mmorpg launches are a bumpy thing. The classes are vastly different at my level thats for sure.

Its the fastest selling PC game ever (source: TV). Now to see how many turn into monthly subscriptions.
I won't even try it with that FPS interface. I get pwned enough in traditional MMORPGs

What about character customization? I know that City of Heroes (for all of its flaws) has a ton of character customization options compared to WoW. How do the customization options in AoC compare to WoW or City of Heroes for that matter?

The fatalities in this game are pretty sick. And i mean sick as in disgusting and gross, not as in cool. Im not saying that its bad though. I could stomach it if i played it. But i just got into wow or else i would so pick this game up.

I've never really been that big of a Conan fan, but after checking out the website, the screenshots and the video on youtube...
It does look pretty cool. The graphics are intense.

God, I'm seriously thinking about picking up this one after all the raves it's been getting from gaming critics, but I doubt I'll even have the spare time to commit to it...it's the same thing that's keeping me from buying a PS3 and MGS4.
Not enough hours in the day. Especially not with Ninja Gaiden II dropping tomorrow, and Grand Theft Auto IV multiplayer still continuing to make unreasonable demands on my lifespan.
