Rock Band 2

Coming this September to Xbox 360 only.
All DLC from RB1 will work with RB2, making the game's potential setlist over 300 songs at launch. All RB1 peripherals will work with RB2. After RB2 is released, DLC will still work with RB1.
So why are they even releasing a sequel?

If (read: like hell) this was released in the UK at the same time, it would be less than 6 months between the original arriving and the sequel arriving. As was previously said, why bother releasing a sequel if it's all intertwined?

I don't know how this wound up on Yahoo's Rock Band 2 announcement, as opposed to anywhere else, but...
MTV Games and Harmonix are releasing 12 Rock Band songs on July 15 from The Who — ranging from "My Generation" to "Who Are You" — that all utilize the band's master recordings. The tracks will be available for $1.99 individually, or $19.99 together. The special release coincides with the upcoming "VH1 Rock Honors" ceremony commemorating The Who.
"We were trying to release 'Who's Next' in its entirety, but we were unable to locate all the masters. So in the face of that, Pete (Townshend) and Roger (Daltrey) helped curate this best-of soundtrack of everything we were able to find."
To me, getting a "Best of" The Who is even better than just releasing a full album. This way, it's much more likely I'll want to buy the full pack, rather than just pick-and-choose a few tracks.
No simultaneous release on 360 and PS3? You manage to do it on the first release, but can't do it on the sequel? That seems really strange to me. I believe that is what's commonly referred to as a "nice ol' moneyhat."
The PS3 owners on the RB forums are mighty pissed by this, if it's any consolation. Then again, the posters on the RB forums get pissed if they're 10 seconds late in releasing the DLC tracks coming out the following week. Maybe I shouldn't take a lot of solace in this fact.
