So I just got the collector's edition of this with the metal case, bonus disc, and comic book for $8 at Gamespot.
Is it a good game? I think I remember it having a lot of hype back in the day.

I haven't played it, but I recall the reaction being mixed at best- it was dissapointing in comparison to the original, added a few interesting things, but had poor level design (highlighted by the need to implement guidance path arrows).

IIRC, Halo 2 also has guidance arrows? I actually like knowing where to go in these types of games, as I don't usually play FPS games and can get lost quite easily

Tried it today with my brother. The dumbass wanted to go on the Perfect Agent difficulty. We couldn't get halfway through the first level.
Playing it on single player has been pretty entertaining so far, though. Maybe I'll convince my brother to co-op with me again on an easier setting.

Then again, I've always enjoyed every co-op game I played.

From what I recall from reviews it was a statement regarding intuitive level design- the original didn't need guidance arrows, the level was designed so you could figure our your options on your own. PDZ went for a larger, more complex, sandbox, but lost the design focus in the process- people would get lost in the levels or be confused as to where to go, so they had to put the guidance arrows in to compensate.
