My suspicions have been raised too, especially after looking at this thread on the Bungie forums.

Now, look at the subject line at the top of both pages. 
(For the uninformed, the superintendent was part of the "hype machine" for the supposed announcement and was making appearances on the forums in usual Bungie fashion)
EDIT: Or it might be just be, as a certain Romulan Senator might say, a FAAAAKE!
EDIT #2: Turns out that first posters on a page can edit the subject title. So, this entire post = nothing.

From what I'm reading in their forums, it looks like they're starting up the hype machine again. In an interview with Don Mattrick it was confirmed that a new Halo game in the making. Note that we haven't heard anything about Ensemble Studio's Halo Wars here lately... *begin speculation*
