I like the Mechwarrior series, especially 3 and 4. These are fun games because of the compelte destructability of the environment. They both have great graphics and good cusomability options. Get these games.
Tacyon is also a good vehicle based shoter, although older. It is very similar to Lucasarts XWA, which I also loved.
If you are not into this genre, Arcanum, as stated above by Silverdog, is an immense RPG, although it doeshve high requirements. I dont own it, but i have played it. Obviously, the Diablo games are great, although smaller.
I dont know any recent RTS or TBS games, so sorry.

ya i forgot about the mechwarrior series that was quite fun. Never played tachyon but i did buy it for a friend of mine once.
Well for new stratagy games im waiting for C&C Generals. Not sure how many years thatl take but it looks totally kikbutt!

I just checked out the WarCraft III website.
Damn that game looks great. I'm willing to bet that when it comes out (late June) that it'll destroy the RTS competition. It had such a long development time that it better or Blizzard has lost it.

as for old strategy games, Sierra's homeworld homeworld: catyclysm and, i hope, homeworld 2 soon were great. They were revelutionary as far as RTS games go with three dimentional graphics and immense missions.
Most of Sierra strategy and tactical games were good. Look into that.

Hmm. Half Life: Generations, Pack three (HL, Opposing Force, Counter strike, Blue Shift). For £20, there's little competition, IT'S £5 EACH FFS!.

If your looking for a good strategy/warfare game: Shogun Total War. The battles can be just plain awesome. It's not like your guys have hitpoints, terrain and morale are taken into respect. Just a very good game, i love it.
However no game has brought me more enjoyment than Star Craft. Best game of all time.
As well as, i hate to say it but, Counterstrike.

Star Craft has lasted us for a good 4 to 5 years, and i havent gotten tired of it. Me, Shegonnablow and some others have continued playing it since about grade 8. Best ever...

Pffft. Hardly. It was fun for a fews week, at best. I just couldn't play Single Player again. I could with Jedi Outcast many times.

Hmm, I've only seen the Myst games mentioned once. I don't play PC games very often, but I think these are great. They're absolutely beautiful games-but not worth your time if shoot-em-up stuff is what you're into. They're definitely very strategical.

has any of you played Heroes of Might and Magic 4?
It's a turn-based fantasy strategy game.
I saw Microsoft's new RPG, Dungeon Siege. do yupu think it's any good?

I would recommend Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza, it's pretty good so far.
