Big thanks to ATMachine for pulling the threads over. I think that'll do, I've snipped out the broader development stuff that came up in the Epsiode thread that was focused on the OT & PT.

Figure this is as good a thread as any to discuss the obsolete 12-episode plan & other episodic structures that were considered, just as long as we can avoid "OMG LUKAS SHULD MAKE EPSIODES 7-9 IN 3-D WITH JEDI LEGGACY AND FORCE UNLEESHED STORYLNES THAT WLD BE FKN AWSOME LOL" sort of posts.

Oh I was serious alright. Yes I know this is the movie thread and EU isn't really taken into account here but I just had to say it. I would love to have the Thrawn trilogy on the big screen but Dark Empire fits better

I like the Thrawn Trilogy (and DE, to a lesser extent) too, but given Nub and I's immediately prior posts, it was difficult to tell about your post.

I admit I just barely glanced at the comments before mine. I was just adding my two cents

This is unrelated to any of Lucas's plans, but I came across it a few years ago and thought (parts of) it was/were pretty cool. Basically, as the original toy lines were winding down in the mid-80s, Kenner put together a proposal for something called "The Epic Continues," which would have been an extended toy series that would be accompanied by/informed by a post-ROTJ setting.

The premise was that following the battle of Endor and the death of the Emperor, a warlord named Atha Prime would return from the edge of the galaxy, where he had been kept at bay during the Empire era. He would have been a major player in the Clone Wars, and his forces would be Clone Warriors. Luke and the Rebels would resist them, Luke having become a true Jedi. The whole thing is not very detailed, but I liked the idea of the prequel events looping back around to relate to 'sequel' plotline. Also, the aesthetics are totally 80s-Star Warsian.

I don't actually remember, it was so long ago. I know my first exposure to the details came from the same site those pictures did (the names are linked to pages on it).

I'll say. I had a double take when I saw who was supposed to take over the Empire after Palpatine's death. How would they pull that one off?

Interesting some of the ideas also included droids in a more prominent role.

I remember someone years ago posting that picture of Atha Prime and what Kenner planned to do post RotJ. I have no idea who it was but it was here.

It first turned up in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine #2 (1995). Will have to dig that out if I can find it, there were some pretty whacky ideas for the new toy line.

Apparently Kenner went a bit overboard in their proposal & declared the SW Saga would eventually comprise five trilogies.
