Wow..um...wow. So seemingly a camera was made that can do this...

    Here's an explanation:

And here's the video of it being done:

The human eye can't even detect much, much less than a trillion.

There actually is a camera that shoots at a trillion FPS. It's used mostly for looking at how light behaves.

Yeah I am missing what's so amazing about this. Sure the number is seemingly astronomical, but a super-high-speed camera doesn't strike me as a dumbfounding concept.

What I find more amazing is that apparently the link Ramza posted has a 3D option. I wasn't aware YouTube had that as an option.

I remember reading the first Art of Special Effects ILM book back in the '80's and being awestruck they had a camera that shot thousands of frames a second.

    So technology....yeah, it's fast. :p

It's impressive because it's only about 1000 times the maximum speed you can theoretically register (Not to be confused with the Planck time, which is waaaay smaller) and because it lets you create an image like this:

    That's a freaking laser.

For some reason I thought you said "That's a freaking toaster". :D

I must be hungry. I was reading it a trillions fps.

That's technically millions of lasers over time imposed over each other.

But it's still cool that we can now capture light mid-flight.

No, it's a laser. Millions of pulses. :p

I'm certainly not being needlessly pedantic to cover my cursory fact omission from when I was posting from my office earlier today. Nope.
